Congratulations to Alexander Sunderland who won both the 100m and 200m events representing the Granite Belt at the Darling Downs Athletics Carnival this week. He has also been selected in the Darling Downs team to compete at the Queensland Schools Athletics Championships later this year. Well done Alex and all our other students who competed in the carnival.

Congratulations to all of our students who competed today in Toowoomba at the Darling Downs Track & Field Championships — fantastic effort and brilliant sportsmanship from every one of them.

On Thursday 13 August, two of our students took part in the Cancer Council’s Rock the Chop, bravely cutting their hair and donating their ponytails to the Ponytail Project.

Their generous donation will help create wigs for Australians experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment and other medical conditions. It was a wonderful moment of courage, kindness and community spirit — and we are incredibly proud of both students for making such a meaningful difference.

What an inspiring example of compassion in action at St Joseph’s.

Our Year 11 students are enjoying a fantastic few days away at their leadership camp, building the skills, confidence and teamwork they’ll need as they prepare to step into their Year 12 student leadership roles in 2027.

The group has embraced every activity with enthusiasm, showing great spirit, maturity and a genuine commitment to growing as leaders. It’s wonderful to see them working together, supporting one another and reflecting on the kind of leaders they hope to become.

We look forward to seeing their leadership shine in 2027!

📚✨ Book Week Parade Brilliance! ✨📚

What an incredible morning on campus! Our students, siblings, staff and teachers brought Book Week to life with a parade full of colour, creativity and pure joy. The effort that went into today’s costumes was truly outstanding — from wonderfully imaginative characters to some very, very clever homemade creations that had the whole crowd smiling.

The parade was a fantastic celebration of reading, storytelling and community spirit. A huge thank you to everyone who dressed up, supported, cheered and helped make Book Week such a memorable event for our school.

Our St Joseph’s P&F is running a raffle for two tickets to the Socceroos vs Brazil match at Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday 29 September.

Raffle tickets are just $2 each and can be purchased through the Qkr! app or at the school office.
🎫 Tickets will be drawn on 18 September.

All proceeds will go towards purchasing new soccer goals for the Primary Oval — supporting our students and their love of sport!

Congratulations to the following students who competed at the Darling Downs Track & Field Championships and have now been selected to represent Darling Downs at the State Championships in October:

• Sophia Kunze – 14 Girls - 100m
• Milly Watts – 14 Girls - Discus
• Imogen Staley – 14 Girls - Javelin
• Milla Fraguas – 15 Girls - 100m, 200m
• Hannah Grogan – Open Girls - Shotput

This year’s championships were held across two venues, with Track Events on Wednesday 19 August at The Glennie School, followed by Field Events on Thursday 20 August at O’Quinn Street Park. Our students performed brilliantly across both days, showcasing outstanding skill, determination and school spirit.

We are incredibly proud of all five girls and wish them every success as they prepare for the State Championships.

A number of our Year 9 and Year 10 students attended the Aspire 2 Health program at Stanthorpe State High School today Tuesday 25 August.

This interactive program gave students the opportunity to explore a range of health‑related careers through hands‑on activities, demonstrations and problem‑solving challenges led by industry professionals. Our students engaged enthusiastically throughout the day, gaining valuable insight into pathways in nursing, allied health, emergency care and medical sciences.

Their participation highlighted a growing interest in health careers and provided an excellent foundation for future subject and career planning.
