Today we welcomed over 500 attendees for our Father’s and Special Friends Breakfast and what a joy it was to see our campus and classrooms filled with laughter and quality time together.

From breakfast at Dolly’s to fun outdoor activities, a special peek into the classroom, and (for our Senior School families) a brilliant Father’s Day Panel with our students, thank you to every Dad and Special Friend who joined us this morning. Our school community recently gathered at Dolly’s Café for the PCA Trivia Night, enjoying an evening inspired by the theme Gods, Mythology and the Ancient World.🌍

We extend our sincere thanks to the PCA Trivia Event Organising Committee for their hard work, creativity and dedication in delivering such a memorable event. From the themed decorations and costumes to the friendly competition and atmosphere, every detail contributed to a wonderful evening of connection and community spirit.

Thank you also to all members of our School community who attended and supported the event. Whether competing as Mortals or Immortals, embracing the dress-up theme, or cheering on fellow participants, your enthusiasm helped make the night a great success.

We also acknowledge comedian Ben Sorensen for expertly hosting the evening, and the food and beverage vendors who kept everyone well fed and refreshed throughout the night.

Events like these are a valuable reminder of the strength and generosity of our community, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening.

Great news for students commuting from Melbourne’s west! 🚊

The Werribee, Laverton and Williamstown lines now connect directly through to the Sandringham line, running straight through as one continuous service.

That means students travelling to Windsor Station — a short walk from St Michael’s — no longer need to change trains along the way. What used to be a journey with a transfer is now one simple, direct trip from the west, all the way to school.

A smoother, simpler commute for students and families across Melbourne’s west.

Music at the Centre, 2026: RESONATE 🪉

More than 200 student performers shared their creativity and passion on the stage of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall for Music at the Centre 2026: RESONATE last Friday.

Featuring a snapshot of the breadth of our Years 3-12 ensemble program, the evening celebrated musical collaboration, with a dynamic blend of classical and contemporary styles. The Australian flavour of the program reflected the importance of place, connection and belonging, while reminding us of the power of stories and experiences to resonate long after the final note.

As Director of Performing Arts Tyler Hess reflected: “Perhaps the most important question isn’t: What resonated tonight? It is: Who resonated? Not simply performers. But conscientious, talented young people. Not simply a concert. But a community celebration. Not simply achievement. But the power of aspiration.”

We are incredibly proud of every student, staff member and family who helped bring this special evening to life. The music may have finished, but the echo continues! 🎼

We’ve been named winner of Best Use of Technology at the 2026 Australian Education Awards. This is now a back-to-back recognition in this category, after our Excellence Awardee distinction in 2025.

The win reflects a whole-school approach: a unified data platform bringing together academic, wellbeing and engagement information, a managed device program, responsible and student-centred AI adoption, and our standing as a Microsoft Lighthouse School, led by our Director of Learning Technologies & ICT, Matt Heinrich, alongside the IT team.

We were also named a Senior School of the Year Excellence Awardee, recognising the leadership and the strength of our teaching, pastoral and departmental teams across Years 7–12. Our submission spotlighted Student Agency, the Teaching, Learning and Caring Framework, Year 9 Unleashed: Tasmania, the new Coleman Courts, and our partnership with the Parent Community Association. Well done to Emma McDonald and the Senior School leadership team.

These awards also recognise every staff member across St Michael’s who made this possible 👏

Our School is proud to share that Poppy (12S) and Harper (7M) have received a Highly Commended certificate for their entry into the 2026 Parliament Prize Competition.

This places them in the top 6% of entries for their age bracket. Entries this year ranged across 180 schools and over 1,180 students.

The Parliament Prize is an annual competition for Victorian school students, invited to consider what they would say in Parliament if they were an MP via a 90-second video of their own Member Statement.

Poppy proposed that First Nations languages should be part of the school curriculum while Harper petitioned for increased availability and access to free, purpose built netball courts in local areas.

Such an impressive result for our 2 students 👏
