Little Patch celebrated Mother’s Day with a wonderful afternoon tea at filled with love, excitement and special moments shared together. In the lead up to the day, we worked very hard behind the scenes to create some meaningful surprises.
Our afternoon was full of fun and connection, with a range of activities for everyone to enjoy, including nail painting, play dough, mini gardening and lots of special moments spent alongside mum or a loved one. A highlight of the day was our kinder children’s beautiful drawings of their mum or special person, proudly displayed for families to take part in a fun “guess the mummy” activity.
It was so special to see the children putting so much love, care and effort into creating their gifts. They were incredibly proud of what they had made, and it was truly heartwarming to watch them create something so thoughtful and meaningful.
We hope everyone who joined us had a wonderful time celebrating together.

🌍 Earth Day at Little Patch 🌍

Little Patch celebrated Earth Day across the week to ensure all the children were involved in the important learning and messaging around Earth Day. Topics included the importance of keeping planet Earth healthy and the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

Much discussion and conversation ensued as the children came up with their own ideas to support the 3 R’s including “using less water”, “turning off lights”, “using both sides of the paper”.

The children also discussed why we have recycling bins and what waste goes into what coloured bin.

Every little bit helps to keep our planet healthy! 🌍♻️

Our learning programs incorporate many events and celebrations that occur throughout the year. Anzac Day is a particularly meaningful event where the children learn the significance of Anzac Day in an age-appropriate manner.
All age groups spent the week developing their knowledge of Anzac Day and the traditions that surround this important day.
The children delighted in making poppies from natural and recycled resources including soil, seeds, sand, paper cups, play dough, tissue paper other textural items.

A week spent combining meaningful moments with play and sensory based learning.

A day full of discovery, creativity and joyful learning at our St Kilda centre 🌿

From a calm start with indoor and outdoor play, our toddlers explored their growing interest in puzzles—matching, stacking, and of course, knocking down towers with excitement!
Group time was a highlight, filled with familiar songs, movement and storytelling. Colorful Fish sparked wonderful conversations around sea life, emotions and colours, encouraging curiosity and connection.
Outdoor play brought even more adventure, with sandpit fun, climbing, and a collaborative leaf hunt—where children worked together to create a beautiful collage while exploring different shades of green.
The day finished with creative expression as the children painted Easter egg baskets, building excitement for the upcoming celebrations 🐣

🐣 Henny Penny Program 🌱

Our children enjoyed a very special hands-on learning experience through our Henny Penny program. From watching eggs hatch into chicks to helping care for them each day, the children showed incredible curiosity, responsibility, and kindness 💛

Taking turns feeding, observing, and gently handling the chicks (along with caring for our turtle and fish) supported their understanding of life cycles while encouraging empathy and respect for living things.

It was wonderful to see all age groups, from babies to kinders, engage so thoughtfully—sharing in the excitement, discovery, and plenty of cuddles along the way 🐥✨
