Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a virus that causes respiratory infections. We are currently seeing a high numbers of cases in young children, especially in childcare centres. There is no vaccine for RSV.

RSV symptoms are usually mild and in most cases of RSV the body’s immune system will fight off the infection and you can safely look after your child at home.

RSV symptoms to look out for in your child:
• Runny nose
• Cough
• Sneezing
• Fever
• Wheezing
• Shortness of breath
• Irritability
• Poor feeding

RSV can cause a chest infection called bronchiolitis. This week, 695 children aged 0-4 years old presented to emergency departments across NSW with bronchiolitis – 41% of these children had to be admitted to hospital.

If you are concerned, contact your doctor. You can also call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for free 24 hour health advice or speak to your local pharmacist.

If your child’s symptoms are severe, visit your local Emergency Department or call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

子供の日、こいのぼりクラフト。
セロリを使ってこいのぼりの鱗をペタペタとペイントしました😊子供たちもいつもの筆とはまた違ったセロリでのペイントを楽しんでくれました❤

Children's Day (we traditionally wish for children's health and happiness on May 5th in Japan). We made Koinobori (carp streamers). Celery stalks are used to print the scales of the carps. Children enjoyed using celery for painting😊

みなさん素敵なイースターをお過ごしでしょうか？
我が家はおうちでのんびりとしたイースターを過ごしています。お家時間を利用して我が子達を交えて(巻き込んで？笑)デイケア用の手作りおもちゃを作ってみました。
🌻いないいないばあ型感触あそびボード
🌻ボール入れゲーム
🌻マグネットボード
ほぼ空箱など家にある材料でできているリサイクルおもちゃです😊
さぁ、明日からまた元気いっぱい子供たちが帰って来てくれます❤みんな新しいおもちゃ喜んでくれるかな？☺

I hope everyone is having a nice Easter! We are having a relaxing time at home with the family.
My children and I spent our holiday making some new toys using recycled materials.

ひかりファミリーデイケアでは、日々の保育を通して「自分でやる力」を育んでいます。
以前とある小学校の校長先生から小学校に入学するまでに身に付けるべきなのは、読み書きでも算数でもなく自分のことを自分でできる能力、と伺ったことがあります。
どうしても時間がかかったり、なかなか上手くいかないこともありますが、そこを超えた先に待つ「できた！！」は子供にとっても、見ている大人にとっても嬉しい瞬間です😊
ひかりファミリーデイケアでは子供たちの年齢と発達に合わせてできるだけ色々なことにチャレンジしてもらっています🍀

At Hikari FDC, I encourage children to develop self-help skill. Self-help skill is one of the most important skills children need before starting school.
It can take time, it can get messy. But I encourage children to try as much as they can accoring to their age and developlent. (Of course I offer help if needed😊)

子供たちは音楽が大好き❤
いつもお歌の時間になるとみんなピアノに集合！ピアノに合わせて歌ったり、手遊びや「あいうえおの歌」も子供たちに大人気です😊ひかりファミリーデイケアでは、子供たちに音楽に触れる機会もたくさん提供しています。

Children love music❤
They gather at the piano when it's singing time! We sing songs and do rhymes daily.
I offer children opportunities to explore music on a daily basis at Hikari FDC😊

長く続いた雨があがって、久しぶりにお外で遊ぶことができました🌳🌞
子供たちもいきいき楽しそう！

Finally, we were able to play outside after so many rainy days! Children had a lot of fun running around and exploring!
