A huge thanks to all the volunteers who came out yesterday morning to our cookout at the Westvale Heart Health event! The attendees had a great time and undoubtedly benefitted immensely from your health promotion and advocacy!

**Western Community Cookout application deadline extended to 11.59pm Sunday 28th March**

Wanting to enrich your medical training with opportunities to genuinely connect with the community we serve outside of the hospital? And simultaneously learn to cook (and eat) marvellous dishes? Or looking to gain invaluable volunteering experience and public health knowledge?

We are looking for dedicated and friendly MD2s and MD3s to join our team. Be a part of the longest running student-run organisation at Western and help coordinate both educational and engaging events that will have a tangible impact on the lives of our community members.

We are looking for students keen on public health advocacy, with a passion for food, and are interested in organizing Cookout events to promote health education in our community. We love getting students engaged with various groups in our multicultural west, targeting important health issues that are prevalent in our community.

Hello everyone!

Just a quick reminder for the Westvale Community Cookout on October 2nd! We are still looking for about 5 more volunteers, MD2s especially!! This will be quite a larger event and we would like to have enough students to accommodate the number of guests.

The event will revolve around cardiovascular, diabetes, and mental health stations that aim to provide primary health counselling and education to our attendees. We have an exciting cooking tutorial for you lined up, featuring a variety of authentic home recipes!!

The event is set for the 16th of SEPTEMBER at 9:30 AM. Just a quick recap of what this event will involve: You will get a chance to improve health literacy in the Western Suburbs by having an interactive cookout with various members of our diverse community. You will also get to learn how to make a killer Rice Paper Roll 🔪🥬 and other unique cultural dishes. You will have some fun opportunities to learn some essential Vietnamese words such as where is the pain, fever, etc.... This will undoubtedly aid you in interacting with this community if you are coming back next year to Western as an intern.

Sign-up forms are up and running. Spaces are limited to 15 positions, so get keen and stay notified with us to secure your volunteering position! Also if you speak any Vietnamese please let us know ahead of time as that would be very desirable for this event and would certainly be greatly appreciated by some of the community members that will be attending. There will be Free Food, cooking opportunities, dancing tute, and more! 🍗🍢☕
