During National Volunteer Week, we would like to take a special moment to thank all our wonderful volunteers who make every project feel easier with their support, kindness and dedication.

Yesterday’s Social Supermarket was once again a great success, and this would not have been possible without our volunteers. You helped everything run smoothly, welcomed people with care, and offered support and kindness to everyone who walked through our doors.

We are pleased to let our community know that the Social Supermarket will be back on Tuesday 19 May, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Please note that this event is for Springvale residents, and Conditions of Participation apply. Registration is required, and approved participants will receive a confirmation email with an allocated time slot to attend.

Registrations close at 3 pm on Tuesday 12 May.

🌟 A very special surprise from !

During our Cultural Soup Lunch, we were delighted to welcome , and Lim from the Multicultural Media Centre (AMMC), who came with a very special Certificate of Appreciation for SLAC.

This certificate acknowledges 80 years of service, leadership and dedication to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for people of all backgrounds.

AMMC holds high standards and is deeply passionate about diversity, inclusion and multicultural community connection, so this acknowledgement is especially meaningful.

It is a true honour for the SLAC team, our Committee and our volunteers to receive this recognition.

A heartfelt thank you to AMMC for this beautiful gesture and for your ongoing support. 💜

🍲 Cultural Soup Lunch at SLAC

Yesterday, as part of Neighbourhood House Week, the SLAC team hosted a beautiful Cultural Soup Lunch celebrating food, culture and community.

Everyone who attended had the opportunity to try delicious soups from different cultures, including borscht with a Siberian twist, Mexican chilli soup, Aussie fusion vegetable soup, and we finished with delightful Middle Eastern sweets.

It was wonderful to see people enjoying the rich flavours, colourful warm soups, good company and the welcoming SLAC environment.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the lunch such a warm and enjoyable community event. 💜

Teacher of the Month – Juan 🌟

This month, we are proud to recognise Juan, who teaches Pre-Beginner English at the Women’s Organisation.

Juan provides consistent, high-quality teaching and creates a warm and supportive learning environment for her students. Her dedication, patience, and commitment make a real difference, and it is clear that her students truly love her classes.

Thank you, Juan, for the wonderful work you do and for the care you bring to your teaching every week.

Our Social Supermarket is back on Tuesday, 21 April, and we look forward to welcoming our Springvale community.

Please note that new Conditions of Participation apply for this month’s Social Supermarket.

We have made some changes to improve fairness and safety for all registered participants, so please make sure you read the attached Conditions of Participation and event poster carefully.

💥important points to note:
- Allocated time slots will be provided by a confirmation email
- Please do not arrive early
- ID will be required on the day

📌Registration is required and only registered participants will be able to attend.
