Education Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm at at our Springvale Campus, giving our secondary school students the opportunity to learn, participate and showcase their talents beyond the classroom.

Throughout the week, students enjoyed a range of engaging activities, including interactive learning, art and craft, educational games and quizzes, sports, group challenges and other fun learning experiences.

The week was a wonderful reminder that learning happens in many different ways. By bringing together education, creativity, collaboration and fun, our students were encouraged to grow as active, confident and enthusiastic learners.

We are proud to celebrate our Springvale Campus students’ Round 1 victory in the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) Junior Schools Program – McKinnon Region!

Representing the Affirmative side on the topic “Health Star Rating should be mandatory in Australia,” Iman Hassan, Eden Nwe Oo and Dafiya Ali, supported by reserve speaker Nimao Ibrahim, delivered an impressive performance against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College.

The team demonstrated outstanding preparation, teamwork, confidence and persuasive speaking skills - an especially impressive achievement given this was their first experience in competitive debating.

A special congratulations to Iman Hassan, who was awarded Best Speaker for the debate! Masha Allah and congratulations to the entire team on a fantastic start to the competition!

Our Year 9 students from Springvale Campus had an amazing opportunity to participate in a basketball incursion with Australian International Sports Organisation (AUSISO). A big thank you to our fantastic basketball coaches for delivering such an engaging and enjoyable session.

Our students had the chance to develop their basketball skills, build teamwork and communication, and most importantly, have fun! It was wonderful to see our students getting involved, challenging themselves and showing great sportsmanship throughout the session.

A huge congratulations to our Springvale Campus Year 7 Girls Futsal Team and Year 8 Girls Futsal Team, who recently competed in the Greater Dandenong District Interschool Futsal Tournament — with BOTH teams crowned CHAMPIONS!

Both teams were outstanding throughout their tournaments, demonstrating incredible skill, teamwork, determination, resilience and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see our students give their best, encourage one another and represent Minaret College with pride, passion and excellence.

Education Week was a wonderful celebration of reading, creativity and scientific discovery!

Science took centre stage at Springvale Campus as our Foundation to Year 6 students participated in a range of exciting, hands-on incursions and activities. From bubbling Kitchen Chemistry and fast-moving Billy Carts to Chemical Chaos, Crazy Chemicals and exploring Our Sustainable World, there was plenty of fizz, zoom, wonder and a little bit of mess!

Our Character Parade brought much-loved storybook characters and adventurous heroes to life through their amazing costumes. The imagination, creativity and enthusiasm of our students and staff made the celebration truly memorable.

Our VCE VM students from Officer Campus spent the day at the Road to Zero experience at Melbourne Museum. Students took on the Physics Challenge, using VR headsets to test how far a car really travels before it stops, how much that changes in wet weather, at higher speeds, and with a distracted driver behind the wheel. Some of the results genuinely surprised them.

They then worked in teams to create their own advertisements promoting pedestrian and cyclist safety, thinking carefully about who their message was for and what would actually make young people stop and listen.

Engaging, hands-on, and a powerful reminder of why road safety matters, especially as many of our students approach getting their driver's licence.

Minaret College was honoured to welcome Belinda Wilson MP, State Member for Narre Warren North, to our Officer Campus yesterday.

During her visit, Belinda toured the campus, visited classrooms and enjoyed speaking with our students. We also had the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities involved in supporting our rapidly growing school community.
