These little voices say it best. 🌿

This week, our children came dressed in the colours and fabrics of their heritage - each one carrying a piece of their story with pride. From hand-drawn flags to traditional dress, every detail was chosen with love.

At The Lakes, we believe that when a child sees their culture reflected and celebrated, they grow in confidence, identity, and belonging. These are the foundations that carry them through life.

Watching our community come together like this - the laughter, the sharing, the curiosity - reminds us why this work matters so deeply. ✨

What does celebrating culture look like in your home? We'd love to know. 💛

In the Bilby Room, our youngest learners were captivated by a sensory tray filled with jungle creatures and natural textures. Tiny hands reached for lions, elephants, and zebras - grasping, exploring, and making their very first animal sounds.

These moments might look like simple play, but they're so much more. Through sensory exploration, our babies are building:
🧠 Early language and sound recognition
👐 Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
🌿 Curiosity about the natural world
💛 Confidence through safe, supported discovery

At The Lakes, we honour every stage of development even the smallest moments of wonder.

When love is made by hand 💗

Paint-covered palms. Giggles as fingers squish into colour. Hearts taking shape one handprint at a time.

Our little ones celebrated Valentine's Day by creating with their hands mixing red and pink, feeling the cool paint, and watching their prints become works of art. It's messy. It's joyful. It's exactly what childhood should be.

Through hands-on experiences like these, children build fine motor skills, explore cause and effect, and discover the power of self-expression.

Does your little one love getting creative with their hands? 💕

In the Bilby Room, our youngest learners were introduced to a world of textures, shapes, and sounds through animal-themed sensory play. With jungle creatures nestled among natural materials, each touch became a moment of discovery.

As little fingers grasped lions, stroked zebras, and explored elephants, our educators gently modelled animal sounds - inviting babies to listen, mimic, and connect language with the world around them.

The learning happening here is profound:
🗣️ Language foundations - Hearing and imitating sounds builds pre-verbal communication and phonetic awareness
👐 Fine motor development - Grasping, pinching, and manipulating objects strengthens hand muscles essential for future writing and self-care
🧠 Cognitive growth - Sorting, categorising, and exploring cause-and-effect lays the groundwork for problem-solving
🌿 Sensory integration - Engaging multiple senses helps babies make sense of their environment and regulates their nervous system

At The Lakes, we understand that play isn't separate from learning - it IS learning. And in our Bilby Room, every experience is thoughtfully designed to support your baby's holistic development.

💬 What types of sensory experiences does your little one love exploring at home?

Little hands, big hearts 💕

There's something magical about watching tiny palms press into paint red, pink, white and transform into hearts filled with love.

Our little artists explored colour mixing, texture, and self-expression as they created Valentine's Day masterpieces. Each handprint became a keepsake of this moment in time, a reminder of how small and mighty they are.

Through sensory-rich art experiences like these, children develop fine motor skills, creativity, and the confidence to make their mark on the world literally.
