Today marks the end of an era…

The last ten years has been all things early childhood, supporting educators in their role and embracing families into the Stepping Stones community.

I would like to take a moment to firstly thank Julie Smithers for being the most wonderful partner in business and friend. It was a pleasure to work alongside you as your partner in the development and growth of our Stepping Stones baby. She was definitely something that we both can be very proud of.

To the girls who have made the last 3 years bearable for me in Julie’s absence, I thank each of you for what you have individually brought to the service and to me personally - Josie Wiemers, Jade Kross, Brooke Robinson, and Tahni Adie - without you I would have been writing this post much earlier than now.

And to all of the wonderful Educators who have each in their own right given so very much of themselves through a passion of Early Childhood and with a professionalism that they should be very proud of, in the way of a wholistic curriculum supported with love and care to so very many children and their respective families.

And lastly, a big thanks to all the parents/carers/guardians that entrusted Stepping Stones and our educators with the care and education of their most prized possessions.

It has been an absolute pleasure and I am very grateful, proud and sad on this our last day of care and education.

Have you noticed mould after this big wet?

Heavy rainfall and excess moisture can lead to mould growth in or around your home. Sometimes it's visible as discoloration on walls, ceilings and other surfaces. Other times, it’s sneaky and only detectable by a musty, unpleasant smell. 🤢 Exposure to mould may cause health problems, especially in children with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions.

Tips for dealing with mould:
🌬️ Air out rooms: If safe to do so, start by airing out rooms.
🗑️ Discard uncleanable items: If you can't clean something affected by water or moisture, it's best to discard it.
🧤😷 Wear protective gear: When cleaning mould, remember to wear gloves, a mask, and goggles.
💧 Control moisture: Reducing moisture is the best way to control mould growth.
