AUTHOR VISIT | Our Years 5 and 6 students recently welcomed author, scientist and conservationist Dr Sarah Pye for a special author talk and presentation.

Joined by her puppet sidekick Pongo, Dr Pye shared the real-world conservation experiences behind her Wildlife Wong series, taking students on a journey through storytelling, science and the important work of protecting sun bears.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions, and discover how curiosity, conservation and storytelling can come together in meaningful ways.

Thank you to Dr Sarah Pye and Ipswich City Council Libraries for this engaging learning experience.

INCLUSIVE SPORT | Our Year 5 students are experiencing HPE from a different perspective through Sporting Wheelies’ Raising the Bar program.

Across three sessions, students are experiencing Boccia, Goalball and Wheelchair Basketball, learning firsthand how sport can be adapted to create opportunities for people of all abilities to participate.

Delivered by Sporting Wheelies Game Changers, the program encourages students to explore teamwork, fair play and inclusion while hearing directly from people with disability about their experiences in sport and everyday life.

A valuable learning experience that encourages our students to consider different perspectives and the role we can all play in creating a more inclusive community.

A NEW CHAPTER | Last week, the St Peters Springfield community gathered in worship to celebrate the Installation of Mrs Helen Jamieson as Head of St Peters Springfield.

Mrs Jamieson was installed by Reverend Dr Mark Vainikka, Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District, alongside Mr Tim Kotzur, Head of College, during a special service celebrating Christian leadership, faith, service and community.

Students played an important role throughout the service, with our Faith & Service Captains helping to lead the congregation and our Con Brio Choir performing throughout the occasion.

We were honoured to share this significant occasion with students, staff, parents, Old Scholars and members of our wider community, alongside distinguished guests including The Honourable Milton Dick MP, The Honourable Charis Mullen MP, Mrs Margaret Curnow OAM, Patron of SPOSA, and Ms Meera Honan from Springfield City Group.

TRACK & FIELD | Our Secondary Years students took to the UQ Athletics Centre earlier this term for the 2026 Inter-House Track & Field Carnival, embracing every opportunity to compete, encourage one another and represent their House with pride.

From sprints and relays to jumps and throws, students gave their all throughout the day, whether chasing a podium finish, setting a new personal best or cheering on their classmates from the sidelines.

The final House results are in:
🥇 Leichhardt House – 2867 points
🥈 Mitchell House – 2518 points
🥉 Cunningham House – 2414 points

Congratulations to Leichhardt House on claiming this year's Inter-House Track & Field Carnival title and completing an impressive triple victory in 2026, having also taken out the Inter-House Swimming and Cross Country Carnivals!

Thank you to all students for bringing the energy, sportsmanship and House spirit throughout the day.

Families can read this week's edition of Cornerstone to see the full list of Age Champions and celebrate their achievements.

WOMEN IN SPORT | A group of our Year 7–9 athletes recently enjoyed an inspiring day at the Women in Sport Experience Day at Brighton Homes Arena.

Students took part in hands-on activities, leadership and team-building challenges, while hearing from industry experts and elite athletes about nutrition, performance and the pathways available to women in sport.

One of the highlights of the day was a surprise visit from Springfield's own Gout Gout, who took the time to meet students during the team-building activities.

Experiences like these encourage our students to dream big, embrace new opportunities and build the confidence to pursue their passions, both on and off the sporting field.

A special thank you to Faith Lutheran College Plainland for organising this fantastic experience and Brighton Homes Arena for hosting the event.

YEAR 5 CAMP | Our Year 5 Outdoor Education Camp at Kindilan challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new experiences and develop the confidence, resilience and teamwork that will support them throughout life.

Through adventure-based learning, students strengthened friendships, discovered new capabilities and learned the value of encouraging one another through every challenge.

Experiences like these are an important part of a St Peters education, helping every student grow in confidence, character and purpose.

100 DAYS OF GROWTH | From first days to final days, our Prep and Year 12 students came together to celebrate a special shared milestone.

Our Preps marked their first 100 days of school, while our Year 12 students celebrated having approximately 100 school days remaining before graduation.

Through our Buddy Program, Year 12 students surprised their Prep Buddies with personalised T-shirts before a fun-filled morning of games, dancing and a special visit from our local firefighters, with the fire truck proving a highlight of the day.

It was a beautiful celebration of friendship, connection and the strong sense of community that defines St Peters Springfield.
