A big thank you to Quirindi High School and the University of New England (UNE) for hosting such a fantastic Science Day!

Sorry for all the Nedd posts, but before we ask our students to take on the Uncomfortable Challenge, we wanted our families to understand why we’re getting behind it.

If you haven’t heard of Nedd Brockmann, take a few minutes to watch his Young Australian of the Year speech. His story is incredibly inspiring.

Nedd grew up in a small country town and attended a small school, just like our students at Spring Ridge. When he moved to Sydney, he was shocked by the number of people sleeping rough and experiencing homelessness. Instead of walking past the problem, he decided to do something about it.

That simple decision has now inspired thousands of Australians to step outside their comfort zones to raise awareness and funds for people doing it tough.

At Spring Ridge, we’re only a small school, but we have a big heart. We believe in teaching our students that even small communities can make a big difference. By taking on our own one-day Uncomfortable Challenge, we’re showing our students the importance of compassion, resilience and giving back to others.

💙 Spring Ridge is Getting Uncomfortable for a Great Cause! 💙

At Spring Ridge Public School, we believe in teaching our students that even small actions can make a big difference.

This year, we have proudly signed up for Nedd Brockmann’s Uncomfortable Challenge to help raise funds and awareness for Australians experiencing homelessness.

If you haven’t heard of Nedd, he is the 2026 Young Australian of the Year who has inspired thousands of people through his incredible determination and his simple message:

“Just show up.”

Nedd reminds us that growth doesn’t happen when life is easy. It happens when we step outside our comfort zone, challenge ourselves and use our efforts to help others.

Tomorrow, we’ll be asking our students:
🤔 How should Spring Ridge get uncomfortable?

Will it be push-ups? Burpees? Squats? Something else?

The students will help decide our one-day challenge, and together we’ll give it our best while raising money for an important cause.

We’re also sharing Nedd’s Young Australian of the Year acceptance speech. It’s well worth watching as he explains why homelessness matters, why he is so passionate about helping others, and how every one of us can make a difference.

Tomorrow, our very own Dottie will proudly represent Spring Ridge at the NSW State Cross Country Championships in Sydney.

Dottie is proof that with determination, dedication and plenty of hard work, dreams really can come true.
