Speak Up Studio
Confidence. Creativity. Communication. Our program is not competitive, and is not designed to produce broadway superstars.
We are dedicated to creating exciting and engaging education programs that encourage children to be positive about speaking up. Instead we aim to develop a love of reading and literature, to teach vocal skills that enable good communication, and to develop confidence. We partner with schools who believe in the power of drama in education and who can help us share our programs with all children.

Our Annual Winter Roald Dahl Production is inspired by… George and his mean-old-granny! Join us for a five day workshop in which we mix up the most marvellously magical stage show the world has ever seen.
With theatrical challenges such as dinosaur-sized chickens, exploding grandparents and Brisbane’s Biggest Cauldron, performers will be in on all the action and creativity as they rehearse and perform this show in just one week. From auditions on Monday to performing on Friday you can expect a week of fun, friendships & figuring it out as we go!
Oh grandma if you only knew, what we have got in store for you.

In term two our extension students [Performers & Philosophers] are working on...
Character comedy gives students the tools to transform into bold, memorable performers who can truly hold an audience’s attention. By exploring the timeless archetypes of Commedia dell’arte, students learn how physicality, voice, and clear character choices create humour that lands every time.
This unit of work builds confidence, quick thinking, and adaptability. Most importantly, it empowers students to take creative risks, trust their instincts, and discover the joy of making others laugh.
If you’re thinking about signing up for the term we’d love to have you! Character Comedy is a great place to start for performers who are ready to step into the spotlight in our extension programs 💫

Parents, here’s a quick way to spot organisational values when choosing activities for your children: Take a look at how they articulate their rules. The way we write “rules” tells us a lot about how we view our responsibility and how we intend to act. I’ll go first.
1. BE SILLY. BUT SAFE. [You can find an explanation for this rule if you scroll back on our grid... ]
2. GENTLE BODIES AND VOICES
this means we are physically gentle when we are in the drama space, we don’t shout, and we choose gentle language when communicating. Approaching our time in the space,
Being gentle with our voices also means warming up our voice at the start of every class. This means that every class starts with activities that connect us, regulate us and set us up for success.
3. LISTEN [more on this in the next post in the series]
