Our students had a fantastic time at our 2019 Chrysalis Conference! 🙌
During this intense one-week conference, life-long friendships were formed, and students gained a deeper understanding of cross-cultural competency, public speaking and business management skills, and future study options at IES College.👨🏫

Adding to our already stellar line up for Chrysalis Conference this year, we are excited to welcome back Tamara Richardson. She is the Founder and Director of multi-award winning, PACE 48, a multinational, youth-led platform promoting access to cultural education. PACE 48 facilitates youth-led intercultural relations, while empowering youth to see the social and economic development value in promoting the intergenerational transmission of intangible cultural heritage.
Hailing from rural Queensland and having a passion for the role that ICTs play in accessing education, Tamara was the first young person invited by UNESCO to record an interview for their podcast series, ‘Talking About Culture’, joining other notable United Nations representatives from the Culture sector. She is an appointed Associate of the UNESCO Chair in Intercultural & Interreligious Relations, Asia Pacific, and is currently the Australian Government’s National Delegate to the Commonwealth Youth Council.
We are eager to see what Tamara will bring to the conference this year!

Chrysalis is delighted to announce that Sonja Carmichael will be joining us at Conference this year.
Sonja Carmichael is a Quandamooka woman and has come from a long line of traditional women, descendant of the Ngugi people, one of three clans who are the traditional custodians of Quandamooka, also known as Yoolooburrabee – people of the sand and sea.
As part of the conference Sonja will host and lead the Indigenous Art Workshop of the Chrysalis program. We are excited to welcome her to the Conference this year!

Chrysalis is excited to announce our first speaker for the upcoming Conference in 2018! We are welcoming back Chi Wa Lao, an IES alumni international student from Macau who is currently in his second year of Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at The University of Queensland.
Chi Wa was the first IES student to receive the IES Adventure Scholarship which took him to the Antarctic last year, on an expedition with the famous environmentalist and polar explorer, Robert Swan.
A passionate environmentalist himself, Chi Wa returned from the expedition an even more determined advocate for our environment, in particular climate change. He aims to inspire people, especially young adults and children since they are our future of our society, to take action now to improve the environment, and that it’s not just about the environmental issues, but also human behavior.
Stay tuned here on our page to hear more about the upcoming Conference!
