Congratulations to our 2025 MIMS / College Intern of the Year, Ruby Schembri from Gilgandra Pharmacy, who was awarded her title at .

Ruby has made an incredible impact in her rural community — from delivering contraception education to local high‑school students, to leading a medication management seminar at the hospital, and personally administering more than 1,000 vaccinations in a town of just 3,000 people.

Her work is a powerful example of the difference pharmacists make in regional Australia.

PSA | ACP kicked off with two full‑day pre‑conference activities.

We hosted our inaugural Supplementary Scope Symposium – Full Scope, welcoming an incredible 98 attendees. Khanh Nguyen and Grace Banks also delivered our Immunisation Workshop, with a record 27 participants taking part.

Thank you to everyone who made these events such a success. We can’t wait to kick off the main conference today!

🌟 Meet Finalist 4: Jenna

Jenna is a future-focused pharmacist and co-founder of Australia’s first National Intern Exchange Program, created to expand learning, collaboration and exposure to full-scope pharmacy practice for early-career pharmacists. Passionate about women’s health and community care, she has led initiatives such as her Mastering Menopause education night and delivered off-site vaccination clinics to retirement villages. Jenna’s leadership, innovation and commitment to education continue to shape a more connected and progressive pharmacy profession.

🌟 Meet Finalist 3: Ruby

Ruby made a measurable difference to her rural community through education, prevention and engagement. During her internship, Ruby delivered contraception education to students in Years 9 -12 in Gilgandra (a town with one of Australia’s highest birth rates) and led a medication management seminar at the local hospital. Ruby’s commitment to public health saw her increase vaccination uptake by 20%, personally delivering more than 1,000 vaccinations to a community of just 3,000 people. Ruby’s work reflects the vital role pharmacists play in improving access to care in regional Australia.

🌟 Meet Finalist 2: Gabriel

Driven by a deep commitment to closing the gap in health outcomes, Gabriel has made a meaningful contribution to the Torres Strait community through culturally responsive care and engagement. Gabriel’s work includes running men’s health groups, facilitating medication yarning sessions with Elders, mentoring pharmacy and high school students, and advocating for rural pharmacy pathways. Gabriel’s approach centres on supporting community-led health outcomes while inspiring the next generation of pharmacists to consider rural and remote practice.

🌟 Meet Finalist 1: Shylee

Shylee’s internship journey took her to the heart of Australia’s largest Aboriginal community, where she embraced rural pharmacy and its powerful impact on health outcomes. Working closely with other health professionals, Shylee helped problem-solve complex care needs, delivered health promotion activities to improve health literacy, and supported growing demand for services through expanded scope of practice. Beyond the community, Shylee championed the future of the profession serving as a NAPSA Executive Director, mentoring pharmacy students, engaging local high schools, and completing postgraduate studies to deliver full-scope services in 2026. A passionate advocate for rural pharmacy, Shylee inspires others to say yes to new opportunities and meaningful impact.

Last night, we were proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone - 50 years of the Australasian College of Pharmacy.

Our 50th Anniversary Celebration & Fellowship Dinner brought together Fellows, past CEOs and Board Presidents, and many of the profession’s most influential contributors to honour the individuals who have shaped the College’s success over five decades.

The evening marked a historic moment with the induction of the final cohort of College Fellows, recognising leadership, service and lasting contribution ahead of the College’s transition to the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to reflect on the College’s journey, celebrate its people, and acknowledge the legacy that will continue into the next chapter.
