So much corruption in politics
The Deputy Premier’s announcement today confirms what many in the community have long feared: a backroom deal with developers that effectively hands 7.1 hectares of publicly funded riverfront land into private control.
For years, residents have consistently called for parkland, new schools, sporting fields, affordable housing, and genuine community facilities on this site. Instead, just six days after what can only be described as a token consultation process, it is now clear the outcome was effectively predetermined behind closed doors.
This is a once-in-a-generation public asset, and it is being squandered by the LNP State Government and the Deputy Premier.
West End and South Brisbane are already under extreme pressure with overcrowded schools, packed public transport, limited green space, and a shortfall in community infrastructure. This proposal locks in those pressures for decades to come, with no solutions.
Dismissing legitimate community concerns and calls for proper democratic input is not planning. It is governance in backrooms and absolutely not for public interest.
I'll keep fight for our communities.

What a disgusting and dirty river and people wonder how the Brisbane river got so brown, it was blue in the 1830s when Europeans arrived in QLD and ever since then colonial farmers and people have degraded the river bank and the river its self.
Urban Utilities has pumped a staggering 110 million litres of sewage into the Brisbane River at Morningside over the past year.
The volume—equivalent to about 44 Olympic-sized swimming pools of wastewater—was discharged during eight wet-weather events between May 2025 and mid-May 2026. The overflow point, built as part of the Bulimba–Hamilton Siphon Renewal Program, is designed to divert excess flows into the river during heavy rainfall.
Council-owned Urban Utilities said the system was operating as intended, arguing it is not practical to build infrastructure capable of handling extreme weather events.

At approximately 3am this morning Thursday 25th June 2026, police and GIICA employees evicted the Goori Camp Embassy supporters from Victoria Park Barrambin.
Under the cover of darkness, the barricades now completely encircle and contain our public parkland.
GICCA, the government appointed and annointed private corporation now owns and controls our public space.
Let your anger fuel your action to protect our precious and magnificent Victoria Park Barrambin...
