Wind Ensemble Eisteddfod

Last week, Wind Ensemble competed at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, receiving a Platinum Award and 2nd Place in their section!

The adjudicator commended the ensemble’s impressive core sound, clear articulation, balance and blend, as well as the maturity and flexibility shown throughout their program. They also highlighted the excellent solo and percussion work and the strong attention to detail across both performances.

This is a fantastic achievement for an ensemble that continues to develop its confidence, musicality and sophistication. Congratulations, Wind Ensemble!

Congratulations to Touch Excellence student Jewel, who represented South Coast at the recent 10–12 Years QRSS Touch Football State Championships, where South Coast claimed the State Championship title! 🏆
Jewel was named Player of the Series and selected to represent Queensland later this year.
An incredible achievement—well done, Jewel!

Congratulations, Senior Boys AFL!

A fantastic effort from our Senior Boys AFL team, who secured a great 72–27 quarter-final victory over Padua College yesterday!

The boys now move on to the semi-finals in Week 8, joining our Youth Boys in the next stage of the competition.

Well done, boys — what a great achievement!

Strings Eisteddfod
Our String Orchestra recently took to the stage at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, receiving a Silver Award and 3rd Place in their section!

The adjudicator praised the ensemble’s beautiful tone, strong rhythms, balance and enthusiastic performance, as well as their focus and connection with the conductor. This is a fantastic result for an ensemble that has worked hard to prepare a challenging and contrasting program.

We are incredibly proud of the musicianship, energy and commitment they brought to the stage. Well done, String Orchestra!

We’ve loved welcoming Young Tourism Leader Bella into our Tourism classrooms over the past few months. She shared her experience of finishing school, entering the Tourism industry and what it’s really like to pursue a career in Tourism. A huge thank you to Bella for inspiring our students!

Choir Eisteddfod
Recently the Southport State High School Choir took to the stage at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, performing music they have poured their time, energy and heart into. From rehearsals and challenges, to stepping onto the stage and giving it their best, our students should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

⚽ Round 7 | QSPL v Cavendish Road
A huge thank you to our Year 12 students, who have certainly left their mark on the Soccer Excellence program. Their commitment, leadership and character have created a legacy that will be greatly missed.
The Senior Boys were our standout performers on the day, securing an impressive 3–1 victory to claim the QSPL Minor Premiership!
They’ll face Cavendish Road once again in the finals on Wednesday 2nd September

TITANS CUP
Well done to our SSHS netball teams who represented the school at the Titans Cup!
Our Juniors had a great day on court, playing some strong netball before going down in the semi-finals.
Our Seniors fought hard right to the final whistle, narrowly going down by just one point on the buzzer.
A fantastic effort from both teams and plenty to be proud of!
