TSS Preparatory Book Week!
Today we welcomed several players from the Gold Coast Titans who read to many of our boys as part of our Real Men Read program. It was a fantastic morning for the boys. Thank you to coach Josh Hannay for being here and for organising this for us and to the players - Tino, Jayden, Phil, Zane, Dean and Jensen. We greatly appreciate you all giving up your time and making this such a special experience for our boys.

Raised on a merino property outside Goondiwindi, Leithโs life took her across the world, from rural Queensland to Pakistan and Kenya, before bringing her home again. Through marriage, motherhood, running a farm and the challenges of single parenting three boys, Leith found strength in family, community and the values she had grown up with.
TSS became an important part of that journey. For Leith, the School offered her sons the opportunity to broaden their horizons while remaining connected to where they came from. It provided education, friendship, mentorship and belonging โ helping them grow into the men of character she hoped they would become.
Reflecting on her life and motherhood, Leith says:
โThe richest parts of life were never found in the easy years. They were found in raising my boys, standing steady when I needed to, and watching them grow into men of character and heart.โ
Her story is a wonderful reminder of the enduring connection between TSS, its families and the communities from which our boys come.

A terrific achievement across the board, particularly for Sparke Senior Winds and Big Band 1, who competed in the A Grade sections against some seriously red hot competition.
In our 125th year, and the TSS Year of Scholarship, these results are another wonderful example of our boys striving for excellence and representing the School with pride. The standard of performance across all four ensembles reflects the work, commitment and musicianship the boys and their directors have brought to the program throughout the year.
There is a proud history of music at TSS, and it is exciting to see this generation of musicians continuing to add to that legacy.
Congratulations to all of our boys and staff involved.

Alexander was the 8th Queenslander across the line.
The course was challenging after very heavy rain last week in Ballarat, it was more mud than grass, very heavy underfoot - in addition to the 2 mudpits, 3 mounds to climb and section of log jumps included in the course.
Alexander had a great run despite falling over in the mud!

Dr Ian Lambert is one of those people. A proud Old Southportonian and former School Captain, Ian has spent a lifetime in education as a teacher, principal and school leader, guided by a deep belief in the potential of every young person.
His own journey began at TSS, where experiences in the First VIII, First XV, Cadets, music and art โ and the influence of remarkable teachers and mentors โ helped shape his understanding of leadership, service and education.
For Ian, education is about far more than academic achievement. It is about helping young people discover who they are, what they can contribute and what it means to live a life of purpose.
His philosophy is grounded in faith, family and an enduring optimism for the next generation. He describes schools as places of โplanting rather than harvestingโ โ where educators nurture young people and trust that the seeds they plant may flourish years, even decades, later.
Perhaps most importantly, Ian remains deeply hopeful about young people and their capacity to rise to challenges, exceed expectations and become people of character and contribution.
A wonderful reflection on education as an act of hope โ and on the lasting impact of those who believe in young people.
