🌟 Southbank Toastmasters — Last Thursday’s Members Night Recap

Last Thursday’s Members’ Night at Southbank Toastmasters was an absolute blast — fun, insightful, and full of those classic “only at Toastmasters” moments.

Our TM Rav did a fantastic job running the meeting (first time!! 🎉), guiding us through transitions with confidence and thoughtful insights.

We enjoyed five diverse speeches, from Icebreaker to Level 4, touching on curiosity, love and heartbreak, the importance of mentorship, and even something a little controversial from João. Huge congratulations to Carmen, Patrick, Luke, Ari, and JC for delivering with authenticity and courage.

One of the biggest highlights was Annei’s Table Topics workshop — a crowd favourite! She equipped us with three humour‑boosting techniques: Bait and Switch, Exaggeration, and Self‑Deprecation. Definitely more arrows in our quiver now.

A massive thank you to all our offline evaluators, GE, Timer Arun, VPE Tia, and the entire exec team for keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Your work makes nights like these possible.

What an incredible night at Southbank Toastmasters! Our theme, “Stories That Shape Us,” set the tone for an evening filled with authenticity, courage, and connection.

This meeting was extra special when we joined by members of CPA Toastmasters, adding fresh perspectives and new voices. And we were honoured to have our Area Director, Wing Siu, attend and support the club. Their presence elevated the night and reminded us how strong our Toastmasters community truly is.

Winter Warmth at Southbank Toastmasters ❄️

Thursday, 16 July, we embraced the winter season with an evening filled with inspiring stories, learning, and connection.

Hosted by our TM of the Night, Joao, we enjoyed a fantastic meeting celebrating growth and courage:
🎤 Sagar shared his Icebreaker speech, taking the first step in his Toastmasters journey
🎤 Ari delivered an engaging Level 2 speech, continuing to build confidence and communication skills

Dennis kept everyone on their toes as Table Topics Master, challenging members to think quickly and share their ideas in the moment!

A wonderful winter evening reminding us that every speech, every story, and every challenge helps us grow.

The Office Edition: EOFY Toastmasters Night. Wrapping up the financial year in style at our Southbank Toastmasters EOFY Meeting—where reflection meets a little office flair!

Led by our TM of the Night, Ari, we had a lineup of thought-provoking speeches:

🎤 Maria shared insights on “What’s Worth Changing, What’s Worth Keeping”
🎤 Alex delivered a surprise speech to complete her pathway—what a moment! 🎉

What an incredible night of growth and reflection at Toastmasters!

Led by our TM of the Night, Michelle, we heard three inspiring speeches:
🎤 Rochelle took us through *A Bit of History* with her icebreaker
🎤 Luke delivered a powerful Level 1 TED-style talk on letting go
🎤 Simon completed his Level 5 journey with his Final Test—huge milestone! 👏

Ryan kept everyone on their toes with engaging Table Topics, bringing out some fantastic impromptu moments.

We also marked a special occasion—our final meeting with the 2025–2026 executive team and the exciting announcement of our incoming Club President 🎉
