BOOK WEEK PARADE // What a morning! Our Symphony of Stories parade was such a hit 📚🎶

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to watch – it was so lovely to see so many familiar faces in the crowd. And the costumes! You all outdid yourselves. So much thought and effort went into every single one, from the littlest details to the full-blown productions. 👏

A bit of rain rolled through but nobody seemed to mind – if anything it just added to the fun.

Big thanks to Frank's Espresso Coffee Van for fuelling the grown-ups with coffee all morning, and to Mrs Winter for putting together such a great event. Thanks also to our amazing parent helpers who pitched in with set-up and ran the bookstall on the day.

Another great Book Week in the books (pun intended). Thanks to everyone who made it happen! đź“–

Dear friends, now we are children of God. We have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him. We will see him just as he is. 1John 3:2 Last week was Perseverance Week. Throughout the week, class devotions helped us explore how to p...

PRIMARY DEFENCE CLUB// Our Years 3–6 Defence Club is a great opportunity for our Defence students to connect, have fun and share life with others who understand the unique experience of being part of a Defence family. 🇦🇺

This week, students enjoyed playing games together, sharing stories and simply spending time building friendships. We love creating a space where students can talk about their experiences, celebrate the positives of Defence life and know that they are part of a supportive community.

We also love that our ADF students can invite a non-Defence friend to join them. It’s a great way to build connections and help others understand and appreciate the Defence lifestyle.

We’re thankful for the commitment and service of our Defence families and the wonderful contribution they make to our school community. 💙

PRIMARY ZONE ATHLETICS// Last week, 46 of our Year 3–6 students proudly represented our school with incredible team spirit, sportsmanship, and determination at the Zone Athletics Carnival.

We were thrilled to celebrate a number of outstanding individual and team achievements. Congratulations Elka W and Arlo D who were named Age Champion, as well as our Senior Boys Relay Team for taking home a convincing first place win!

Thank you to the parents who came out to cheer us on. Best of luck to our qualifying athletes heading to State next week.

PRIMARY GYM PROGRAM// This term our primary school students are having an absolute blast getting active and developing new skills through our gymnastics program!

Led by an external, accredited gymnastics coach, every session is designed to be clear, achievable, and most importantly fun! Students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and celebrate every milestone along the way.

Beyond the movement, gymnastics helps our students build fundamental physical and personal skills, including:

✨ Physical Strength & Agility: Balance, coordination, flexibility, spatial awareness, and body control.

✨ Character & Focus: Confidence, perseverance, concentration, listening skills, and safe teamwork.

It has been fantastic to see our students cheering each other on, growing in confidence, and mastering new skills together.

WHOLE SCHOOL// At today’s Principal’s Assembly, our school community gathered to hear from God's Word and listen to our Year 10 students reflect on their recent trip to the Solomon Islands! 🇸🇧

Mr Jolliffe shared from John 13:3–14 about the call to serve others, pointing us to Jesus washing His disciples' feet as the ultimate example of humility and servant leadership. We were reminded that true greatness in God's Kingdom comes through serving others with a willing heart.

We were so blessed to see this message come to life through our Year 10 students, who recently returned from their mission trip! They shared how stepping out of their comfort zones allowed them to grow in faith, resilience, and empathy. A real highlight was watching our Year 10s lead the whole assembly in a song and actions — the very same one they taught the children in the Solomons! 🎶

Mrs Flippence also sat down with a student panel, giving them the opportunity to reflect on their experiences in more depth - their honesty and growth were evident to everyone in the room.

Character is one of the key anchors of our school, and today was a beautiful reminder of how opportunities like this mission trip shape our students into young people who genuinely live out service, humility, and love for others. ⚓️

Thank you to everyone who prayed for and supported our Year 10 team! đź’™

YEAR 3// Our Year 3 students recently put their growth mindset into practice with a hands-on "Not Yet Yeti" sewing activity!

Sewing is intentionally tricky for small hands, but when threads tangled, our students paused, took a breath, and embraced the challenge—remembering the power of "Not YET!" Through patience and perseverance, their adorable Yetis are coming together.

At NCS, we are dedicated to equipping students for life through a holistic education that balances academic excellence with spiritual, emotional, physical, and social well-being. At the core of our vision is character development - nurturing traits like humility, integrity, kindness, perseverance, respect, and gratitude. Lessons like this help shape capable individuals and future leaders who will make a positive difference in their communities.

A big thank you to parent volunteer Mrs Stubbs for her time and patience in guiding tiny fingers through every stitch!

CRU GROUP// Each Friday at lunchtime, students in Years 3–6 gather for our CRU Group—a place to grow in faith, build friendships and develop leadership.

Led by our Year 5 and 6 student leaders, CRU provides intentional opportunities to practise leadership in a supportive environment. From welcoming students and leading games to praying, reading the Bible and facilitating small group discussions, our leaders are encouraged and equipped as they serve others.

Each week, our Chaplain also shares a short Bible talk, helping students grow in their understanding of God’s Word while building a strong cross-grade Christian community.

We love seeing our students develop the confidence, character and servant-hearted leadership that will prepare them to make a positive impact both at school and beyond.

PRIMARY CHESS COMP// ♟️ Checkmate! Last Thursday, Nowra Christian School (NCS) was delighted to host the Shoalhaven Primary Schools Chess Competition!

Organised by the NSW Junior Chess League and expertly officiated by Mr Bevan Clouston, the event brought together 13 teams for an intense day of strategy, skill, and friendly rivalry. We were delighted to welcome visiting players from Vincentia, Huskisson, and Gerringong primary schools to join our students on the boards.

NCS proudly fielded four teams, showcasing fantastic representation from our Years 3 to 6 students.

After eight grueling rounds of hard-fought, exceptionally close games, the tournament ended in a thrilling three-way tie for first place! The top teams from Huskisson, Gerringong, and Nowra Christian School all finished with an impressive 27 points apiece. 🏆

A massive congratulations to all of our players for their brilliant strategic thinking and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day! 🎉👏
