The Lakes South Morang College's motto, Aspire to Inspire, along with its core values
- Learning, Leadership, Teamwork and Respect - underpin all that the College aims to
achieve. As a dual-campus school serving approximately 700 students from Primary to Secondary levels, we are committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment.
Located in the outer-northern corridor of the City of Whittlesea, Melbourne, Victoria, our College prioritises strong partnerships with parents and carers, acknowledging a shared commitment to, and a responsibility for, supporting student learning, engagement and wellbeing.
The College is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our College community, and our teaching and learning programs promote the principles of tolerance, understanding, democracy and inclusion.
The College’s vision is structured around four key pillars for success: Academic Rigour, High Expectations, School Pride, and A Positive Climate for Change in Our Community.
Academic Rigor:
• A commitment to ensuring every student achieves at least 12 months of learning growth annually.
• Dedicated Learner Coaches who hold a strategic commitment to explicity support
individual student growth,
working closely with parents/carers as key partners in the
learning experience to ensure that learning is prioritised, enabled and enhanced in both the school and home environment.
• Extensive student leadership opportunities and formal training, including: SRC; Peer
Support; College feedback groups; work experience; further studies through VET and
Melbourne Polytechnic; Local Municipal Council initiatives; future careers forums; and, excursions and camps.
High Expectations:
• Transparent sharing of key performance data to drive targeted improvements across the College, supported by resourcing and funding aligned to the Annual Improvement Plan.
• Individual Education and Pathway Plans are developed for each student, guiding their learning and progression through each year, supported by continuous reporting methods to both students and families, so that they have real-time information and ownership of learning progress.
• A strong partnership between students, families, and the wider College community,
reinforced by an active School Council that advocates for school pride, continuous
improvement, and high expectations.
School Pride:
• Regular upgrades to College facilities to support contemporary, high-quality learning environments.
• Transparent and consistent communication through Principal Newsletters, Aspire
Magazine, social media, the College website, Compass, and noticeboards.
• A culture of celebration of learner acomplishment, recognising both student and staff achievements through our auspicious Award's Night, Year 6 and Year 12 Valedictorian honors, and our growing Alumni network.
• A committed College community aligned to our College goals, that believe in our students and want to make a difference to their education.
Positive Climate for Change in our Community:
• Strategic communication of our changing College narrative within our local community to:
- strengthen College values; celebrate student success and academic rigor; and, build
community connections with business, prominent community members and long-standing College partners.
• Increased involvement opportunities for parents/carers in school voice, fundraising,
classroom support, facilities maintenance and curriculum engagement.
• Enhanced transition programs from K-P and Years 6-7 to ensure students at these levels are well equipped and ready for change.
• Advocacy efforts to present the College’s journey, vision, and successes at key
Department of Education events and workshops.

The Year 1s successfully completed a wildlife expedition to the South Morang wetlands! 🦆🌿
As part of our Literacy unit integrated with Inquiry, the students visited the South Morang wetlands to explore this important local environment and build their understanding of the world around them.
During our visit, we learned about how the wetlands work, followed the journey of water through the system and discovered the many animals and plants that call the wetlands home.
Our young explorers were full of curiosity as they observed nature up close. 🐸🌱

On Tuesday 12th May, a group of Year 11 played in a netball tournament at Mill Park Stadium. The Senior Girls Netball team demonstrated outstanding determination and resilience throughout the recent tournament. Although the team was unable to secure a win across their four matches, the girls showed tremendous commitment and sportsmanship in every game. It was amazing to see the girl maintain a positive attitude, encourage one another, and continue to compete with great spirit until the final whistle of the day.
Their perseverance, effort, and willingness to support each other on and off the court reflected the values of true sportsmanship and should be commended. The experience gained from the tournament will no doubt help the team continue to grow and improve in future competitions.
Well done to all players for representing the school with pride and determination.

Our VIA students have embraced some incredible learning opportunities this term, representing The Lakes South Morang College at both the Model United Nations hosted by Ivanhoe Grammar School and the Victorian State Schools Parliament Convention at Parliament House.
These experiences challenged students to think critically, collaborate with peers from across Victoria, and develop their skills in leadership, public speaking and problem-solving. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our College with confidence, maturity and enthusiasm.
Congratulations to all of our VIA students who participated in these outstanding enrichment opportunities!

On the 4th of June the grade 5 students were lucky enough to be a part of a Parliament Incursion. Students discover the roles of local, state, and federal governments and how they work together to shape the nation. In an interactive mock election, students represented parties, campaign for votes, and experience preferential voting in action. They see how absolute majorities and redistribution determine outcomes and why every vote counts.
Using costumes and props, students step into the shoes of MPs, debate a key issue, and follow the process of turning a bill into law. This immersive role-play encouraged teaching democracy in a way that’s engaging and memorable.

🎨 Our Term 2 Art Enrichment Program is off to an inspiring start!
Our young artists began the first of three dry felting workshops with local artist Gay, learning how to transform wool fibres into beautiful artworks. With guidance, students explored colour blending, layering and texture, taking inspiration from nature, animals and their own imaginative ideas.
The photos capture students focused on the making process of, experimenting, problem solving and discovering the magic of felting.
We can’t wait to see how their pieces evolve over the next two sessions!
