We're putting the finishing touches on what promises to be a wonderful day at The Rainforest School. From races and creative activities to delicious food, crystal digging, campfire marshmallows, coconuts, our pre-loved clothing stall, and student-made treasures in the artisan gift shop, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Children won't want to miss the Haunted House, imagined, designed, and created by our students especially for the Spring Fair.

There was plenty of excitement last week as students got up close with some of Australia's native wildlife during a visit from 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴.

From snakes and a freshwater turtle to a blue-tongue lizard and a beautiful spotted forest python, students were fully engaged as they listened, asked questions, and experienced these animals firsthand.

At The Rainforest School, we value learning that is meaningful, hands-on, and connected to the world around us. Experiences like this help children develop knowledge, respect, and appreciation for the unique environment we call home while bringing classroom learning to life.

A sincere thank you to Marcus Dorse for his generosity, passion, and the memorable learning opportunities he provided for our students.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members, this year's Spring Fair raffle includes two wonderful prize collections, each filled with a range of fantastic prizes.

We’re selling plants to raise money for our playground, thanks to the generosity of one of our lovely school families who are hosting the stall.

Raffle tickets are also available, with the winner to be drawn at our Spring Fair on Saturday 5 September. Every ticket helps support our growing school community.

Every ticket purchased helps us take another step towards building a playground at our new home in Frogs Hollow, creating a space where children can learn, play, and grow.

With over $900 in prizes to be won across two fantastic prize packages, there's plenty to get excited about.

What a fantastic way to celebrate Book Week!

Today, we visited our local library for another wonderful Book Week adventure, where this year's theme 𝘚𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴, came to life through stories, creativity, and hands-on fun.

From dressing up as favourite book characters to creating their own musical instruments, it was a joyful morning filled with imagination and discovery.

A heartfelt thank you to our local library for welcoming us each year and helping nurture a love of books, stories, and learning in our community.

Join us on Saturday 5 September from 10am to 2pm for a relaxed day of creativity, connection, and community.

Enjoy delicious food, explore our student artisan gift shop, cheer on the races, dig for crystals, get hands-on with creative activities and workshops, and enjoy performances throughout the day.

As a school that continues to grow and put down roots at Frogs Hollow, each Spring Fair is an opportunity to come together, celebrate, and support what we're building for current and future students.

A milestone for our school and community. 💚

🌿 𝗔 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲. 𝗔 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 🌿

Last Friday, our school community came together to celebrate a milestone that has been years in the making.

Together with students, families, staff, supporters, Djiru community members, Council representatives and community members, we celebrated the symbolic handover of a 30-year lease that secures the future of both The Rainforest School and Frogs Hollow as a valued community place.

There were stories shared, hopes for the future spoken by our students, a time capsule placed beneath the ground to be opened in 2036, and a tree planted as a symbol of growth, connection and future generations.

The ceremony followed Council's recent approval of our Material Change of Use application and the finalisation of the lease agreement.

This milestone secures the long-term future of The Rainforest School at Frogs Hollow and enables the school to continue investing in the site while maintaining its role as a shared community asset.

While the lease itself is significant, what we celebrated was something much deeper:
🌱 The opportunity to continue building on what already exists
🌱 A thriving school community
🌱 A shared vision for the future
🌱 A place where children can learn, grow and belong
🌱 A place where the wider community can continue to gather, connect and create memories of its own

We are deeply grateful to Djiru, Cassowary Coast Regional Council, our founders, past and present staff, board members, volunteers, families, supporters and everyone who has contributed to this journey over the past eight years.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 💚
