Teaching Through Perimenopause 02/07/2026

THIS WEEKEND, LEARN WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT:

Perimenopause, Menopause & Postmenopause

Have you ever wondered why your body suddenly feels different, even though you're doing all the "right" things?

Maybe your energy isn't what it used to be. You're waking up at 3 a.m. for no reason. Your joints feel stiffer, your workouts feel harder, or you're experiencing hot flushes out of nowhere.
If that sounds familiar, you're definitely not alone.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that menopause is this long stage of life. In reality, menopause is just one single day. It's everything before and after that day that makes up the bigger journey.

Let's break it down.

Perimenopause: The Transition
This is the stage that catches many women by surprise.

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause, when hormone levels, particularly estrogen and progesterone begin to fluctuate. It can start in your late 30s or 40s and often lasts several years.

During this time, periods may become irregular, but the changes go far beyond your menstrual cycle.

You might notice:
Hot flushes or night sweats
Poor sleep
Mood changes
Brain fog
Fatigue
Joint aches
Changes in strength or muscle recovery
Weight gain around the middle
Increased anxiety or irritability

The tricky part? Symptoms can come and go, making it difficult to connect them to hormonal changes.

Menopause: Just One Day
This surprises almost everyone.

Menopause is officially reached when you've gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.
That's it!

That milestone marks the end of your reproductive years, but it isn't the end of feeling strong, energetic, or healthy. It's simply the beginning of a new chapter.

Postmenopause: The Next Chapter
Everything after menopause is called postmenopause.

Hormone levels become more stable, but they remain lower than before. This means it's an important time to focus on protecting your long-term health.

Strength training, regular movement, quality nutrition, stress management, good sleep, and looking after bone and heart health become even more important than ever.

Knowledge Is Power
The more we understand these stages, the more confident we become in making choices that support our health for the long term.

This evidence-based workshop is designed specifically for instructors and will help you:
• Understand why symptoms like fatigue, hot flushes, sore joints, and disrupted sleep happen.
• Learn how hormonal changes affect your muscles, nervous system, cardiovascular health, recovery, and performance.
• Discover practical strategies to improve energy, sleep, recovery, and overall wellbeing.
• Hear from menopause expert Wendy, who also taught group fitness and truly understands the physical demands of teaching multiple classes.
• Feel confident teaching through this stage of life while better supporting your participants.

Whether you're currently experiencing these changes or want to prepare for what's ahead, this workshop will leave you feeling informed, empowered, and ready to keep doing what you love.

Why General Menopause Advice Doesn’t Work for Instructors 08/04/2026

Why General Menopause Advice Doesn’t Work for Instructors

Most menopause advice is written for the general population. It is designed for women who might exercise a few times a week, who can adjust their schedule when they feel tired, and who can prioritise rest without it affecting their income or responsibilities.

That is not the reality for a group fitness instructor.
You might be teaching multiple classes a day. You might be demonstrating high-repetition movements, managing intensity, cueing clearly, and motivating your participants, even when your own energy feels low. Your workload is not optional. It is structured, consistent, and physically demanding. And this is exactly why general advice does not work for group fitness instructors.

When the body starts to change through perimenopause and menopause, the demands of teaching do not change with it. That mismatch is where many instructors begin to feel the strain...
