For Purpose Education

Last week, members of the For Purpose Education team had the opportunity to attend the VET Development Centre (VDC) event, joining VET professionals and inspiring speakers for a day focused on wellbeing, emotional intelligence and creating safe, supportive learning environments.

Our Senior Trainer Angela Eldridge, shared one of her key reflections from the day:

"A concept that really resonated with me was ‘sonder’ – the idea that every person you meet has their own life, experiences and story. For me, this sits at the heart of the training we do. Every learner comes to us with their own lived experiences and circumstances, and recognising this helps us better understand and support their learning journey."

Selmar Institute of Education - RTO 121531, part of the For Purpose Education group, recently delivered a Certificate III in Individual Support on site at Wagga Wagga Community Aged Care in partnership with For Purpose Aged Care Australia.

The cohort completed their 12 month traineeship while working full time, learning and applying new skills in real time, alongside the residents and colleagues they support every day.

Last month, they graduated with a nationally recognised qualification and a stronger foundation for their careers in aged care.

This is what building a skilled care workforce looks like: practical, supported, and grounded in real work that strengthens communities.

When Ashley Luscombe enrolled in a Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021) with ARC Training RTO # 91007 she was full of self-doubt.

An early school leaver, abuse survivor, and single mother all weighed heavily on Ashley's shoulders when she took the plunge to study.

Despite these challenges, today Ashley is both a qualified support worker and has been named the 2026 Vocational Student of the Year for the Western Sydney and Blue Mountains Region.

It's a testament to her tenacity and hard work, but for Ashley the achievement is still hard to come to terms with.

"I'm just this girl who took on this course and now it's like a different path. Doors are opening," she said.

“The ARC team were so amazing. They just helped me step by step all the way."

Now Ashley is a finalist in the NSW Department of Education Training Awards, announced in late August and our fingers are crossed that we hear her name called out on the evening!

Our VIC and NSW teams recently came together across their respective offices to support the Cancer Council Australia - Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.

It was a great opportunity to connect across offices while raising awareness and showing support for those impacted by cancer.

ARC Training RTO # 91007 was proud to attend the NSW Training Awards, representing Catalyst Education alongside finalist Ashley Luscombe. It was an inspiring evening celebrating excellence across the VET sector.
