For Purpose Education (formerly Catalyst Education) is a trusted education platform offering vocational training in early childhood education and care, aged care, disability support, business and industry workforce training and community services. We operate a group of nationally accredited Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) encompassing Selmar Institute of Education, ARC Training, and Practical Outcomes. Through this group of RTOs, For Purpose Education supports employers, government and industry partners with qualifications, workforce development initiatives and innovative learning experiences that respond to the changing needs of the care sectors.

From self-doubt to award finalist. 💙

Jessica Herbert's journey into early childhood education is a powerful reminder of what can happen when opportunity meets determination.

After completing her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care through Selmar Institute of Education - RTO 121531 , Jessica is now working as an Assistant Educator at Futuro Early Learning , continuing her studies and was recently recognised as a finalist in the 2026 NSW Training Awards. Half of Australia's early learning centres are capping places because they can't find enough staff. That's around 11,000 places families can't access.

People like Lisa are part of the answer. After decades in retail, and in her 60s, she trained on the job for her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care while earning a wage. She hadn't studied since high school, but with the right support she found a new career caring for and educating children.

Our team recently had the opportunity to speak at the For Purpose Investment Partners 2026 Leadership Forum about the new AI learning tools we've introduced across For Purpose Education.

Katherine, Head of Operations, Syachfri, Head of Data and Technology, and Tiana, Marketing and Communications Manager, shared how these tools are supporting our early childhood education and care learners, employer partners and trainers.

At the heart of it all is time. By helping with some of the everyday parts of study, these tools give our trainer and assessors more time to support each learner one-on-one. They don't replace our passionate and experienced team. They allow them to focus on the encouragement, guidance and personal support that makes the biggest difference.

The early data is promising. Learners have cut the time it takes to progress through a unit by 51%, and both learner and employer experience figures are on the rise.

We're now looking to bring these initiatives to our aged care programs in 2027.

🫶Care as infrastructure means supporting and funding the industries that keep Australians happy, healthy and prospering.

Yesterday the For Purpose Investment Partners and For Purpose Education teams were proud to attend the National Press Club of Australia, where Georgie Dent highlighted that childcare is a major cost and factor for those considering raising a family.

With one in four Australians already living in a childcare desert change is needed for the sector to keep up and investments in universal childcare won't work without a pipeline of qualified, skilled and well-paid educators.

Vocational education providers will play a pivotal role in skilling this workforce into the future, but long-term planning and appropriate funding is needed to ensure the educators of tomorrow are learning today.

Alana knows what it takes to build a career in early childhood education and care. As a Diploma graduate from our own Practical Outcomes RTO 21857, she recently shared her learning journey in a conversation with For Purpose Investment Partners Ellen Jones at the 2026 Leadership Forum, part of this year's launch of the FPIP Impact Report.

Alana was quick to credit the ongoing support of her trainer at Practical Outcomes, the kind of hands-on guidance that turns a qualification into a real career.

Across For Purpose Education, 81 per cent of learners have improved their employment position after training, well above the national rate of 62 per cent.

Our Senior Leadership Team was proud to be there for the Leadership Forum and the Impact Report launch, however it was learners like Alana who were the real highlight. This year's theme, Meaningful Momentum, says it best: when training is built around real people and real support, it makes a genuine difference to the care sector and the communities who rely on it.

Selmar Institute of Education - RTO 121531 launched its first Diploma of Leadership and Management face to face cohort at City of Melbourne Library at the Dock located in the heart of Docklands.

Kelly Butler, Trainer and Assessor reflected on the day - "From the moment the day began, the energy was fantastic. Learners were sharing ideas, getting to know each other and diving straight into discussions, with plenty of laughs and connection along the way."

Congratulations to Ashley Luscombe, who represented ARC Training RTO # 91007 as a State Finalist for Vocational Student of the Year at the 2026 NSW Department of Education Training Awards.

Ashley completed a Certificate III in Individual Support, training to support people in aged care and disability services, one of the many care-sector pathways delivered across our RTOs.

Last week, members of the For Purpose Education team had the opportunity to attend the VET Development Centre (VDC) event, joining VET professionals and inspiring speakers for a day focused on wellbeing, emotional intelligence and creating safe, supportive learning environments.

Our Senior Trainer Angela Eldridge, shared one of her key reflections from the day:

"A concept that really resonated with me was ‘sonder’ – the idea that every person you meet has their own life, experiences and story. For me, this sits at the heart of the training we do. Every learner comes to us with their own lived experiences and circumstances, and recognising this helps us better understand and support their learning journey."

Thank you to VDC and the speakers who challenged us to reflect, learn and continue growing as educators.

Selmar Institute of Education - RTO 121531, part of the For Purpose Education group, recently delivered a Certificate III in Individual Support on site at Wagga Wagga Community Aged Care in partnership with For Purpose Aged Care Australia.

The cohort completed their 12 month traineeship while working full time, learning and applying new skills in real time, alongside the residents and colleagues they support every day.

Last month, they graduated with a nationally recognised qualification and a stronger foundation for their careers in aged care.

This is what building a skilled care workforce looks like: practical, supported, and grounded in real work that strengthens communities.
