We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Early Childhood Educators of Tasmania - ECET to SLEL for a wonderful professional learning session with Alex Morse.

It has been so exciting to already see our educators bringing their learning into practice, and using music to engage in new ways with children.

ECET plays such a valuable role in bringing early childhood professionals together to share knowledge and learn alongside one another.

A big thank you to ECET for choosing SLEL to host and to Alex for such an engaging session. We hope to join you for many more opportunities to connect and learn together.

In Toddler A children have been busy investigating gravity and what happens when we place an object inside a tude. The children watched closely, peeking through the top and bottom, and experimenting with different items to see which one comes out at the end. Through this experience children are developing their early scientific understandings as they explore cause and effect, make predictions and experiment.

What a joy it has been over the last few weeks to have the team from Ready Steady Go Kids come into SLEL to share their skills and support our gross motor movement. Over the next 6 week the children will have regular incursions where they are provided the opportunity to explore the fundamental skills from 10 different sports including basketball, soccer, golf and hockey, building their confidence, coordination and balance. We are so excited for our next session!

Our educators were greeted this morning by a frosty little surprise as they arrived for the day! Our front gate transformed into a canvas and a happy little face was smiling back at us.
It's amazing how a frosty morning can bring a smile, spark curiosity and remind us to appreciate the little moments before we start our day.

There has been so much sensory exploration in Toddler B recently! From the squishy feeling of shaving cream to painting on natural materials collected from outdoor environments and listening to Eloise play the ukulele. Each experience has invited children to wonder and discover through their senses.
As our friends explore different textures, sounds and materials, they are strengthening their fine motor muscles which are needed for future writing and developing language skills as they describe what they see, hear and feel. These shared experiences have fostered many opportunities for social connections to grow as the children observed one another, shared ideas and learnt alongside their peers.

What an incredible finish to our Go Pink! Yesterday we watched as Adam, Deb and Cal proudly went Pink, marking the end of a wonderful few weeks of fundraising, community spirit and coming together for a cause that touches so many lives.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our families, staff and wider community, we are so proud to share that we raised $1,658 for breast cancer research.

Tomorrow is the big day! A month of fundraising, pink-themed fun, generous donations and incredible community support, we are counting down to our final Go Pink event.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraiser so far. From families making donations, local businesses contributing raffle prizes, and our educators creating handmade items for our stall, the support has been incredible.

We can’t wait to share the final results with you tomorrow! Let’s make our last day of Go Pink our biggest one yet!

Last Friday, our Junior Kinder children were excited to visit Queechy High School as part of our ongoing partnership with Steph and her Child Studies students.

Over the past 12 months, the students have regularly visited SLEL, providing them with valuable opportunities to develop their knowledge in early childhood education through hands-on learning experiences, and engagement within our early learning environment.

We are passionate about supporting future educators and creating meaningful partnerships within our community. It was wonderful to reverse the roles and visit the students in their purpose-built learning facility. The students did an incredible job setting up a range of engaging play experiences that our children thoroughly enjoyed exploring.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Steph and her students for warmly welcoming us and congratulate them on the engaging experiences they planned. We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership at our next visit!

We have one week left until Deb and Cal Go Pink! We wanted you to hear from our wonderful team.
Hi everyone!

My name is Cal and I have been an educator at SLEL for 1.5 years. To help raise awareness for breast cancer (and to give Deb some company), I will be shaving my beard!
I strongly believe that we must do as much as we can to bring light to the severity of breast cancer, as it can affect so many of us, whether personally or those in our lives.
Knowing people who have suffered from it, I want to do everything I can to not only raise awareness, but to show the children we care for at SLEL how coming together as a community can make a big impact!

We have one week left until Deb and Cal Go Pink! We wanted you to hear from our wonderful team.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Debbie, although the children know me as Deb!
Last year alongside the Kinder team, Jimmy and Mia and the other SLEL Educators and children, we participated in the Go Pink fundraiser as part of our learning program. I was the guinea pig who let the children dye my hair pink - and they absolutely loved it!
It was such a fantastic learning experience for the children. They had so much fun creating crafts to sell and helping raise money for a wonderful cause. Seeing their enthusiasm and creativity was truly inspiring. About a month ago Adam from Hope Discovery Outside School Hours Care asked to team up to Go Pink again. So here we go again - Pink hair and all!!
I'm excited to once again support this amazing fundraiser and be part of an amazing team of educators and children to support more meaningful learning. We would love your support as we raise funds for this important cause.
