Flying High in Free Sparring! π₯π₯ Junior Black Belt Jonathan demonstrates outstanding athleticism, timing, and confidence as he launches into a spectacular jumping side kick during free sparring training.
Executing a technique like this requires far more than just jumping high. It demands explosive power, balance, precision, spatial awareness, and the confidence to commit fully while under pressure. Jonathan's ability to combine these elements is a reflection of the dedication and hard work he consistently brings to training.
Free sparring provides students with the opportunity to develop timing, distance control, and decision-making skills, and it's always exciting to see students confidently applying advanced techniques in a dynamic environment.
Well done, Jonathan! Keep aiming high and continuing to push your limits. The sky is the limit when hard work meets determination. ππͺ

At First Tae Kwon Do, we teach and train in traditional martial arts, and we understand that strong technique begins with a strong foundation.
For every student to reach their maximum potential, we must continually develop the key building blocks of martial arts performance:
β’ Fitness & cardio
β’ Strength
β’ Flexibility
β’ Balance & coordination
That is why the first 15/20 minutes of every First TKD class are dedicated to focused warm-up and conditioning exercises designed to improve these important areas. By building the body correctly, students are able to perform Tae Kwon Do techniques with greater speed, sharper timing, stronger control, and more explosive power.
In this collage, you can see our Cockburn Adults Class working through plyometric training drills. These exercises develop explosive movement, agility, balance, and lower-body strength β all essential attributes for strong martial arts technique and long-term progression in Tae Kwon Do.
A strong martial artist is built from the ground up, and every warm-up is another step toward becoming stronger, faster, and more capable both physically and mentally.

π Happy Motherβs Day from First TKD WA! π Today we celebrate the incredible mothers across all our WA branches who continue to inspire us both on and off the dojang floor. Our 2026 Motherβs Day Collage is a tribute to the women who not only encourage their children through their TaeKwonDo journey, but who also have the courage and commitment to train alongside them. π₯
There is something truly special about a mother who leads by example. β€οΈ Through every class, every challenge, and every grading, these women show their children the value of perseverance, humility, discipline, and inner strength. πͺ They prove that growth never has an age limit and that true leadership comes through action.
Between work, family commitments, and the endless responsibilities of everyday life, our TKD mums still make time to better themselves physically and mentally. π That dedication deserves enormous respect. Their presence within our dojangs helps create the strong family culture that First TKD is proud of. π
To every mother in our First TKD family β thank you for your support, your kindness, your resilience, and the example you set for the next generation. π· We are proud to have you as part of our community and grateful for everything you do.
If this collage touches your heart, please like β€οΈ, comment π¬, and share π as we celebrate these amazing women today.

Huge shout-out to the Cantrell family, proudly standing together after a fantastic grading last weekend!
Training as a family isnβt just about earning new belts β itβs about building confidence, resilience, and stronger bonds with the people who matter most.
When families train together, something special happens:
β’ They motivate each other on the tough days.
β’ They celebrate every improvement, big or small.
β’ They grow fitter, stronger, and more disciplined β side by side.
β’ And they set an incredible example of perseverance for others in the dojang.
The Cantrells reminded us today that TaeKwonDo isnβt just an individual journey β itβs a shared experience that brings families closer and creates memories that last a lifetime.
Congratulations again to this awesome family. Keep kicking, keep growing, and keep inspiring! π₯πππ

π Fatherβs Day 2025 π At First TaeKwonDo WA, we proudly honour the many fathers who step onto the training floor alongside their children.
TaeKwonDo is more than a martial art β it is a lifelong journey of discipline, respect, and perseverance. When fathers and children train together, the benefits reach far beyond fitness and technique. Fathers lead by example, showing their children the value of commitment, resilience, and personal growth. In a world where many young people look to outside influences as role models, the presence of a father to look up to β right beside them on the Dojang floor β is truly invaluable. Acta Non Verba!
Training side by side, fathers and children share in both triumphs and challenges. They sweat together, overcome difficulties together, and learn that progress comes through patience, effort, grit, and determination. These lessons forge not only stronger martial artists, but also stronger individuals equipped with the mental fortitude to face lifeβs demands.
Beyond the kicks and patterns, these shared experiences strengthen family bonds, build confidence, and create memories that will be cherished for years to come.
This Fatherβs Day, we pay tribute to all the fathers who guide, encourage, and inspire β both inside and outside the dojang. Your example is a lasting gift, proving that the greatest lessons are not spoken, but lived.
From all of us at First TaeKwonDo WA, we wish you a very Happy Fatherβs Day.
