2026 National Child Protection Week 6-12 September

This week is National Child Protection Week and serves as an important reminder that keeping children in our community protected and safe is everyone’s responsibility.

This year’s theme is ‘EVERY CONVERSATION MATTERS: Shifting Conversation to Action’ and highlights that while open discussions are crucial, words alone are not enough.

We must turn dialogue into meaningful action. By shifting from conversation to action, we can ensure that every child not only feels heard, but also experiences real safety, care and protection.

Children’s safety and wellbeing is paramount to the work we do every day at Lady Gowrie Tasmania. Our ‘Children First’ philosophy underpins our work in supporting the rights of all children to grow, learn and play in a safe place.

Lady Gowrie Tasmania has a zero-tolerance policy for child harm. We take all concerns seriously and follow up with appropriate action, including reporting and investigation. As part of our regulatory and ethical obligations, we report any concerns promptly and accurately.

So how can we, as a community, speak up and take action to protect and keep children safe?

1. Call 000 if you believe a child is in immediate danger

2. Visit https://tellsomeone.tas.gov.au/ or phone the Strong Families Safe Kids Advice and Referral Line 1800 000 123 if you are concerned about a child’s wellbeing and safety

Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day!

Today we celebrate and say thank you to all Lady Gowrie Tasmania’s educators for the vital role they play in supporting children’s safety, wellbeing, learning and development.

Educators care for and provide safe, inclusive and engaging play-based learning environments for children so that families can work, train, study and volunteer. This vital work of educators not only supports children’s lifelong development and learning, but also benefits families, communities and our economy.

At Lady Gowrie Tasmania, we broaden the focus of this special day for our educators to include everyone in our team who support our educators in their vital work with children – our ancillary, administration, corporate, project, training, inclusion and management teams.

Let’s come together this week and celebrate our educators and support teams and the vital work they do for Tasmanian children and families!

The celebrations at our Battery Point Education and Care Service are well underway with gifts for educators and meaningful messages of thanks from children and families.

Families, please remember to share your messages of thanks to our educators and support teams on the boards provided at your service!

Attention Families - Let's Celebrate Educators' Day!

Tomorrow is Early Childhood Educators’ Day which is celebrated nationally to say thank you to educators for the vital role they play in supporting children’s safety, wellbeing, learning and development.

Educators care for and provide safe, inclusive, play-based learning environments for children so that families can work, train, study and volunteer. This vital work of educators not only supports children’s lifelong development and learning, but also benefits families, communities and our economy.

At Lady Gowrie Tasmania, we broaden the focus of this special day for our educators to include everyone in our team who support our educators in their vital work with children every day – our ancillary, administration, management, corporate, training, and inclusion teams.

Tomorrow you will find a pinboard and some blank tags in the foyer/sign in areas at all our Long Day Care and Outside School Hours Care Services. The hope is that over the next week families will fill these boards with messages of thanks to our teams.

Please take a couple of minutes out of your day to express your thanks on a tag and pin it on the board. We know our educators and the teams that support them will really appreciate your words of thanks and recognition of their work.

Celebrating Book Week!

Every year since 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. The 2026 Children’s Book Week theme is ‘Symphony of Stories’.

During this time children, families, education settings and public libraries spend one fabulous week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.

Without a doubt, the highlight of this week are all the wonderful Book Week parades and costumes as children celebrate their favourite books, characters and authors.

Reading a book takes readers on a learning journey of discovery, amazement and wonder. Reading enhances children’s vocabulary, speech and writing but most of all – it is fun!

How will you celebrate Book Week 2026 with the children in your lives?

Organised by Early Childhood Australia, Early Learning Matters Week aims to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of early learning for children’s future success.

This week and every day, Lady Gowrie Tasmania highights and celebrates the significant role that early learning plays in shaping the development and wellbeing of children.
