Kaiako Māori Australia

Kaiako Māori Australia Kaiako Māori Australia is proud to announce the launch of our Early Learning Te Ao Māori focussed play group, in South Hedland.

Our classes are designed to introduce young children and their whānau to the beauty of Te Ao Māori. Introducing Kaiako Māori Australia

Kaiako Māori Australia originally began as Māori Poppins Family Daycare, situated in the beautiful Gold Coast. This venture was deeply rooted in a passion for early childhood education and cultural heritage. Through this experience, I had the incredible opportunit

y to rewrite my Nana's hand-typed curriculum in Te Ao Māori, which she once delivered in schools across Manurewa, New Zealand. Attending her sessions as a child was a privilege, and those moments left an indelible mark on my educational philosophy. Today, it is both an honor and a joy to bring those teachings to life in Australia. I have since taken my passion to the other side of Australia and now reside in the town of Port Hedland. This beautiful place is rich in culture and offers endless inspiration. Here, I focus on helping tamariki in the area reconnect with their Māori heritage and identity. By revising a fraction of my Nana's curriculum and aligning it with the Australian National Quality Framework (NQF), Kaiako Māori Australia offers unique learning experiences. Through fun, interactive methods, we share the richness of tikanga (culture and customs), reo (language), and manaakitanga (values of care and respect) with tamariki, creating a vibrant connection between Te Ao Māori and the Australian educational landscape.

Tena ra koutou katoa !!

Thank you to all our whānau who joined us today for our playgroup !! We had a wonderful practise for our waiata Māori !!

This week we learnt about our WAIRUA and how it is inside of us - when we feel connected to our wairua we can be more peaceful & kind to others. Sometimes, we feel our wairua grow stronger when we're in nature, spending time with our whānau or doing something that makes us feel good inside - like singing Ka Pioioi E !!

Here is Ka Pioioi E for our whānau to practise at home, we started singing this today so when we come together, we will have a couple of waiata toutoko.

The Child Parent Center is closed next weekend for the long weekend so we will keep y'all posted if we attend another venue next week to keep our momentum going.

Don't forget !! There is the Kiwi Experience being put on at the Esplanade Hotel next Sunday, March 2nd. The kai sounds mean as !!

Ngā mihi nui kia koutou katoa !!
