Our classes are designed to introduce young children and their whānau to the beauty of Te Ao Māori. Introducing Kaiako Māori Australia
Kaiako Māori Australia originally began as Māori Poppins Family Daycare, situated in the beautiful Gold Coast. This venture was deeply rooted in a passion for early childhood education and cultural heritage. Through this experience, I had the incredible opportunit
y to rewrite my Nana's hand-typed curriculum in Te Ao Māori, which she once delivered in schools across Manurewa, New Zealand. Attending her sessions as a child was a privilege, and those moments left an indelible mark on my educational philosophy. Today, it is both an honor and a joy to bring those teachings to life in Australia. I have since taken my passion to the other side of Australia and now reside in the town of Port Hedland. This beautiful place is rich in culture and offers endless inspiration. Here, I focus on helping tamariki in the area reconnect with their Māori heritage and identity. By revising a fraction of my Nana's curriculum and aligning it with the Australian National Quality Framework (NQF), Kaiako Māori Australia offers unique learning experiences. Through fun, interactive methods, we share the richness of tikanga (culture and customs), reo (language), and manaakitanga (values of care and respect) with tamariki, creating a vibrant connection between Te Ao Māori and the Australian educational landscape.
