A huge congratulations to Year 10 State High student Lulu Lochran on her selection to represent Australia at the World Aquatics Women's U16 Water Polo Championships 2026 in Croatia this July. Lulu has been named in the Australian U16 Women's team that will compete against the world's best young Water Polo talent in Zagreb from 25–31 July.

This is an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment Lulu has shown in the pool. We are so proud to see her wearing the green and gold on the international stage and representing both her club and country her country.

Wishing Lulu and the entire Australian team the very best as they prepare for this exciting opportunity!

𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

We are thrilled to share that State High Year 12 student, Liam McLeod has been selected for the Australian Schools Debating Team, an outstanding achievement that recognises his exceptional talent, dedication, and success in Debating at the highest level.

The Australian team is chosen from the nation's top debaters following the prestigious National Schools Debating Championships and will go on to represent Australia at the World Schools Debating Championships in Tanzania and Kenya from 5 - 25 July.

Congratulations Liam - we are very proud of you!

𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

Congratulations to Seb Croke (Year 11) on his selection in the 15 - 17 years Queensland School Sport AFL Team.

Seb was a part of the Metropolitan East Team that won the State Championship. As a result of his outstanding performances at the championship, Seb was named player of the carnival.

Well done, Seb!

𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹

Our Senior FTVNM students, keen to investigate screen careers pathways, attended the QUT Experience Day last week.

Here, they experienced and operated virtual production studio equipment; explored art department by designing sets (and pitching their concept to their assembled peers!); and experimented with the world of multi-cam television broadcast.

This day was designed by QUT and Essential Screen Skills in order to connect students to screen industry pathways and our students learned so much! Brisbane State High School is a Screen and Media Gateway to Industry School. Essential Screen Skills delivers the Screen Skills and Media Gateway to Industry Schools program which is proudly supported and funded by the Queensland Government and Essential Crew.

This program lays the foundations for our young Queenslanders to gain valuable skills and knowledge before they walk out of the classroom.

𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 | 𝗧𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿

Last week Toxikator competed in the St John's Anglican College Battle of the Bands and took out 2nd place! 🎸🔥

The band won a trophy, certificate, and $200 worth of music gear for the school. Two members were also selected for a special "super group" challenge, where they had just 20 minutes to learn, rehearse and perform a song to close the show.

The band were pumped all night, with plenty of nerves mixed in along the way. They performed brilliantly and should be incredibly proud of themselves. The winning band performed all original songs, which was a great reminder.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved!
