⚠️ Safely Dispose of Asbestos Contaminated Kinetic Sand

As schools across Tasmania close due to potential asbestos exposures, it's important this material is disposed of correctly to limit further contamination. If you or your school has discovered asbestos contaminated sand, please follow the following steps:

✋ Stop using the products immediately.

😷 Pop on some disposable gloves and a mask, place the sand in a heavy-duty plastic bag and double tape it securely and keep it out of reach of children.

📝 Label with 'Contains Asbestos - Do Not Open'.

🚫 IMPORTANT: Please do not dispose of this product in general waste or kerbside collection bins.

✅ Asbestos contaminated Kinetic Sand can be taken to the Burnie Waste Management Centre for free on weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm - please call ahead on 6430 5834, or inform staff on arrival so it can be disposed of safely in line with EPA requirements.

The products are being recalled because the sand may include asbestos, which is a prohibited substance in Australia. Customers should immediately stop using the products and safely dispose of the products. Information on the disposal of asbestos waste, including disposal facilities in your state or territory, can be found on The Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication website.

Customers should contact Kmart to arrange a full refund with or without a receipt. Contact Kmart Customer Service on 1800 124 125 Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm (AEST)

NETWORK MEETING | TASMANIA 🌊

The tasreggio Network meeting will be held on the land and sea country of the palawa people, the traditional custodians of lutruwita (Tasmania).

Join us for a double-encounter Network meeting on the North-West Coast of Tasmania for an opportunity to explore the East Devonport Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC), followed by an on-country experience at a nearby beach. Participants are welcome to join us for all, or part of this experience.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families with children aged 2-4 years in North and North-West Tasmania are welcome to the upcoming CHaPS Connect Sessions.

The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) is hosting these sessions to help young families connect with CHaPS nurses and meet other parents.

You can chat with the friendly team over morning tea, and get resources and tips to help your 2-4 year old grow, learn and play.

👩‍🏫 There will be activities for the little ones too—book reading, drawing and craft—and siblings are also welcome
