🙌Need a reminder of why to sign your Young Creative up for Troupe? 🙌 We caught up with some of our Troupe drama students recently to find out what they love about it. Listen to Neve and Ruby share their thoughts. 💭

📣Special Announcement! 📣 Please welcome our new staff member Louisa 🌟 (Lou Lou) Burton!

Louisa has successfully completed her VCE Drama studies and harbours a deep passion for the arts. Having been involved in school productions and assisting in theatres since a young age, she deeply understands the importance of performing.

Graduating from Woodleigh School in 2022, Louisa was a dedicated member of the high school’s performing arts centre, contributing notably to productions such as ‘Legally Blonde The Musical’, ‘Urinetown: The Musical’, and ‘Almost, Maine’.

With a background in dance and a strong connection to music, she has always used these forms as a means of self-expression.

Louisa firmly believes in the necessity of nurturing creativity within a supportive environment. Her role at the Southern School of Creative Arts allows her to share her passion and help students gain confidence in expressing their identities. She recognizes the profound impact drama and performance can have on adolescents, shaping their futures positively, and she is eager to contribute to this important process.

Louisa says that her time with Troupe so far, “has been the most magical experience, witnessing such adventurous and wonderful theatre students express their passion in the most uplifting way.” ❤️

DRIFT WORKSHOP SERIES 💫

Calling all young budding filmmakers and photographers. Join this fun and practical workshop to learn some easy hacks for turning your smart phone photos and videos into industry standard content! You will be walked through skills and introduced to the International Youth Silent Film Festival, which is an exciting event that can help showcase your work to the globe!

Our Troupe teenage crew were lucky enough to attend the Victorian Opera show ‘Melbourne Cheremushki’ at the end of last term.

It was a fabulous night out at the theatre with a special Q&A with on of their performers, the director, conductor and CEO.

Our fabulous teacher Claire Wearne wrote the education resource for the show as it’s on the VCAA playlist. Our students are so fortunate to be exposed to this kind of experience & learning in addition to their weekly workshops!

This term we’re off to see Back to Back Theatre’s ‘small metal objects’ on Sat 6th May. We still have a few places available in Troupe for Term 2, so head to www.SSoCA.com.au to book a place for your young person today!

Held weekly at the Balnarring Community Hub from 4:30-6pm it involves 90mins of rich learning through hilarity and fun!
