Seeding Our Future She was named the AAEE Environmental Educator of the Year 2018

Nikki has secured nearly $130,000 in grant and in-kind funding over the last 10 years for Bungwahl School to set up a kitchen garden, bush food garden, green house and aquaponics system.

‘Inside every seed is the potential for an incredible harverst’ - Richard Paul Evans

I’m always saving seeds as it’s such a sustainable way of gardening.
When saving wet seeds like tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon etc, the best thing to do is leave the fruit to ripen as much as possible on the plant & then place the seeds into water to soak for a couple of days. This process removes the layer of film covering the seed so it dries properly for storing. Once the seeds have finished soaking tip them into a fine mesh strainer & rinse under the tap. Then leave the seeds to dry for a couple of days before storing.
I normally store seeds in glass jars but this time I used zip lock bags because I had a pile of them given to me.
Oh & don’t forget to label & date you seeds.
