At the end of this term, we will farewell our wonderful Deputy Principal, Rowena Cooper, as she takes up her relocation appointment at Redlynch State College.

Over the past four years, Rowena has been an exceptional leader at Smithfield State High School. Her dedication to our students, staff and community, together with her positive relationships, extensive technical knowledge and commitment to excellence, have made a lasting impact on our school.

Rowena has been highly valued by all who have had the privilege of working alongside her. She leads with professionalism, compassion and integrity, always placing students at the centre of her work while empowering others to grow and succeed. Her calm guidance, collaborative approach and genuine support have helped shape our school and strengthen our culture.

While we are sad to see her leave, we are incredibly grateful for the contribution she has made and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. We know that Redlynch State College is gaining an outstanding educator and leader.

Thank you, Rowena, for your four years of service, leadership and friendship. Your last day with us may be the end of term, but the positive impact you have had on Smithfield State High School will be felt for many years to come.

The entire Smithfield State High School community wishes you every success and happiness in this next chapter.

This week, we say farewell to two wonderful students from our International Student Program, Isidora from Chile and Matilde from Italy.

During their time at Smithfield State High School, Isidora and Matilde embraced every opportunity to learn, make new friendships, and explore the beauty of Far North Queensland. Their enthusiasm, kindness, and positive spirit have left a lasting impression on our school community.

We are so grateful to have shared this journey with them and are proud to have been part of their Australian experience.

Thank you for the memories, Isidora and Matilde. We wish you both safe travels, wonderful adventures ahead, and every success for the future.

Today, the Smithfield State High School Percussion Ensemble delivered a strong performance at the Cairns District Junior Eisteddfod, competing in the Open Percussion Ensemble category.

The ensemble performed Summon the Spirits, an untuned, Taiko-inspired arrangement that showcased the students' energy, precision and musicality. Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese drumming, the piece featured powerful rhythms and dynamic contrasts that captivated the audience.

The students represented Smithfield State High School with pride and demonstrated the hard work and dedication they have put into their rehearsals. Congratulations to all ensemble members on an outstanding performance. Thanks also to Mr O'Grady for leading out students.
