Our aim is for participants of our training to gain confidence and the skills needed to undertake the initial management of injuries and illnesses occurring within the workplace, home, recreational and remote settings. With enthusiasm and a true commitment to this subject, our first aid trainers and assessors encourage a positive, competency based learning environment enhanced by a practical, hands-on approach. Our Team
Our training department, which has been successfully operating since 1996, is headed by Wayne Christiansen. He has over twenty five years’ experience in formal medical training with the Australian Army, St John’s for 4 years, a Volunteer with Surf Life Saving for 15 years and member of Royal Life Saving since 1982, where he currently teaches Royal Life Saving Royal Medallion and Life Guard courses. The First Aid in Cairns team is a highly dedicated and enthusiastic group of instructors who are fully qualified according to standards set out by the Australian Quality Framework (AQF), and hold current certification for the training they are delivering. They hold a current Working with Children Blue Card, as well as the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Our Dedication
Our first aid courses are carried out by trainers who have a medical background, which will ensure that you not only have interesting and relevant content, but your practical session will be conducted by experienced and professional pre-hospital care staff. Some organisations will only teach you what you are assessed on and not a full comprehensive first aid course, our objective is to make our course as interesting as possible and give you as much practical experience as possible. We utilise a variety of contextualised scenarios, which allows you to demonstrate your competency in a practical context and then debrief at the end of each session. We start simply and then build up your skills to allow for better retention and understanding. Who We Train

Public courses are held 5 days per week, Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays).
