Originally from Byron Bay, Michelle trained under renowned dance teacher Mrs Val Steward. She completed her dance teacher training in 1996 becoming an Associate ATOD (Australian Teachers of Dancing) teacher. Michelle owned Brunswick Valley School of Dance from 1995 – 2003. She then travelled overseas for 2 years and furthered her dance training. She studied under the celebrated contemporary dance
company, Delfos in Mazatlán, Mexico. During this time, she trained in the Graham contemporary technique as well as a fusion of Limon and Cunningham technique developed by the company. Upon returning to Australia she completed a Bachelor Degree in Creative Industries (Dance) at QUT in Brisbane. In 2007 Michelle opened MBK Dance studios on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. The studio was sold in 2015 and Michelle spent 6 months back home in the Byron Shire sharing her knowledge with three local dance studios. Michelle then completed a Graduate Diploma in Education (Dance) at QUT. She continued to teach dance at 3 studios in Brisbane. Michelle’s passion is dance technique and artistry. She loves to mentor and coach young dancers and share her passion for dance with adult students. She loves to create a safe and nurturing environment for all her student, balancing good dance technique with fun, recreational classes.
