Congratulations to Scarlett and her team on a fantastic achievement at the wheelchair basketball competition in Rockhampton last weekend. π
Scarlett, in Year 9, played an important role as her team performed strongly throughout the tournament and went on to win the B Grade grand final. Her dedication and hard work in HPE to improve her basketball skills are clearly paying off, and this result is a wonderful reward for the effort she has shown in class.
Well done, Scarlett! We look forward to seeing what you achieve next. π
π’ Secondary Athletics Carnival Update πββοΈπββοΈ
Our Years 7β12 Athletics Carnival will go ahead as planned! β
The event will be held at an all-weather (tartan) track facility, allowing us to run most events even if conditions are wet.
π The safety of all students remains our highest priority. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and make any necessary adjustments to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone.
π§οΈ Please keep in mind:
β’ Some grass areas may be wet or soft underfoot
β’ Students should take extra care when moving around the venue
π What to bring:
β’ A change of clothes
β’ Spare shoes and socks
β’ Appropriate footwear for the conditions
π Most importantly, we canβt wait to see everyone showing their house spirit, supporting one another, and bringing a positive attitude to the day. Letβs make it a fantastic carnival full of energy, teamwork and school pride! πͺπ

Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful Indigenous walk through the university grounds with Aunty Kaylene as our expert guide. We are learning about a range of native plants and how they have traditionally been used for different purposes, including medicinal uses.
Aunty Kaylene shared her knowledge of the local environment and helped students make connections between Country, plants, waterways, and the importance of caring for the land. Students were encouraged to think more deeply about the decisions we make about how we use and care for the land we are lucky enough to learn on and enjoy every day.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to remember and acknowledge the strength, resilience and survival of the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.
The purple hibiscus flower is a symbol of remembrance, healing and connection. It reminds us of the ongoing impacts of forced removals and the importance of truth-telling, respect and reconciliation.
As we reflect today, may we continue to listen, learn and walk together towards a future grounded in understanding, justice and hope.
