The Shoalhaven Superheroes Festival (SSF) is a pioneering annual community series of different fundraising events and activities which celebrate pop culture. Superheroes Events Limited (SEL) is a volunteer not for profit company which is the organiser of the SSF. SEL was established in November 2014 with the Mission to make the Shoalhaven the Superheroes Capital of NSW/Australia through the the es
tablishment of pop culture events and fictional pop culture POP Worlds. The first fictional POP World introduced in 2014 was BerryPOP The Shire of Berry Potter. All SSF events and activities held in the Shire of Berry Potter are Harry Potter theme related. All SSF events and activities are fundraising for the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat (River Retreat) at River Road, Shoalhaven Heads, Shoalhaven, NSW, Australia. The River Retreat will provide accommodation short stays for families with chronically ill kids and/or families requiring benevolent assistance. The first event held was the BerryPOP Pop Culture Charity Expo in December 2014. Since then the SSF has grown to staging events both within and outside the Shoalhaven region. To focus on SEL’s growing charitable work, Superheroes Community Care was established in September 2020 ahead of SEL applying to ASIC and ACNC to change our legal structure to a Charity, Public Benevolent Institution with DGR status.
