Our mind tricks us…

Especially when we encounter a new opportunity…

It’s part of how we are designed as humans. It’s a very important and powerful mechanism for our survival.

But in our modern world…
it’s not always helpful.

In the face of discomfort our mind seeks certainty.

It looks for what it knows to be true.

Usually this happens at a very logistical, logical level.

But when we get curious…

We discover deeper questions of belonging…
of worthiness…
of safety.

Mothering in the Mist isn’t a place where you need to already have all of this figured out…

It’s a space where our current experience - including this place of uncertainty and unfamiliarity - is met exactly as it is…

Slowly, relationally, without needing to be anything else.

If you’re feeling unsure about joining us…

Comment below, or send me a DM…

I’m happy to chat about whether Mothering in the Mist is really the right place for you.

There’s been a lot of women asking whether Mothering in the Mist is going to be right for them.

And it’s a fair question.

Because this isn’t a parenting course.
It isn’t a typical women’s circle.
And it isn’t traditional group therapy.

It’s something a little harder to categorise.

Which can make it difficult to know whether it’s worth your time, energy, and the logistics of showing up in an already full life.

So let me be clear.

If you’re looking for someone to tell you the right way to parent, this probably isn’t the place.

And if you’re worried you’ll be expected to bare your soul in front of strangers, it’s not that either.

We gather.
We reflect.
We listen.
We explore ideas together.

There is no pressure to speak before you’re ready.
Listening is just as much a way of participating as talking.

Every gathering has a gentle structure, but no two are ever the same.

The conversations are shaped by the women in the room and what feels most alive that day.

Sometimes we’ll laugh.
Sometimes we’ll cry.
Quite often, both.

You don’t need to be in crisis to come.

And you don’t need to have everything figured out.

Most women who will join aren’t looking for more advice.

They’re looking for somewhere they can stop carrying mothering on their own.

If you’re wondering whether you’ll be too much or not enough for this space...

You won’t be.

You can simply arrive as you are.

One of the reasons I worry about children’s development now is that many ordinary community moments have quietly disappeared from childhood.

A trip to the butcher, saying hello to the cashier, waiting in line at the supermarket, helping carry groceries, watching a parent talk to another adult, or being asked a simple question at the counter all give children tiny opportunities to practise being part of the world.

These moments may seem small, but they help children learn how to wait, listen, look up, notice facial expressions, use their voice, stay near an adult, manage their body in a busy space, and build confidence with people outside their immediate family or classroom.

Online ordering and home delivery can absolutely be helpful. For many families, they are part of getting through a busy week.

But when too many real-world moments disappear, children can miss the repeated practice that helps them feel confident in everyday social situations.

This is not about making life harder for parents. It is about noticing what children are missing and gently bringing some of those experiences back where we can.

Children need real faces, real places, real jobs, real conversations, and real chances to be included in community life.

Development does not only happen in classrooms, therapy rooms, or structured programs. It happens in the small ordinary moments where children get to participate in the world around them.

Mothering is one of the most intense catalysts for what it means to be fully human.

Because it doesn’t just show us who we are as mothers.
It shows us every place we still carry unmet needs.

Every exiled part.

Every younger, wounded, overwhelmed part of us that never got fully seen.

Mothering brings it all to the surface.

Not to break us.
But to make it visible.

So it can finally be met with compassion.

Mothering in the Mist is support for the full reality of mothering… not the perfected version, but the lived one.

Over 6 online gatherings, a small group of women come together for the journey.

I’d love to have you with us.

Mothering in the Mist is a seasonal online journey for women raising children.

Together we catch the stories that often get lost beneath the busyness of family life.

The stories of who we have been, who we are becoming, and everything mothering asks us to carry or let go of along the way.

Because, let’s be real…

Mothering changes us.

Not only when our children first come to us, whether that’s through biological birth or otherwise, but over and over again as they grow, as relationships shift, as seasons change, and as life asks us to continually adapt to what is here now.

Sometimes those changes happen so gradually that we barely notice them until one day we find ourselves wondering, “What the hell has happened to me?”

This gathering offers a place to pause, reflect, and begin to gather the pieces of ourselves left behind in the demands of caring for everyone else.

We begin Monday 13 July.

I’d love to have you join us.

I’ve been thinking a lot about mist lately.

Not the kind that hangs low over the water on a winter morning.

The kind so many women seem to find themselves mothering in.

The place where the old ways no longer fit, but the new ways haven’t quite revealed themselves.

Where your children are changing.

You are changing.

Relationships are changing.

And much of the time, you can’t even see the path ahead.

We’re often taught that confidence comes from having all the answers.

I’m no longer convinced that’s true.

What if confidence comes from learning to find our bearings, even when the mist doesn’t lift?

I’ve been sitting with that question in some form or another for a really long time.

Today, I began creating something from it.

Mothering in the Mist.

A seasonal gathering for women who are raising children.

I’m beginning before everything is ready.

There’s no fancy booking page.

There isn’t even actually anywhere to book yet.

It feels a little scary.

And strangely... exactly right.

If you’re curious about Mothering in the Mist, comment “MIST” below or send me a message.

We’ll work out the rest together. 😉

Nothing in Nature is trying to be something other than what it is.

The trees stand bare when it’s time to stand bare.

The seeds wait beneath the soil when it’s time to wait beneath the soil.

The darkness comes and light returns, over and over again, in a beautiful miraculous cycle that moves beyond time.

I find a deep comfort in that.

A trust.

That everything - including me - is exactly and perfectly where it needs to be right now.

Wishing you all peace and stillness in the darkness…

And a beautiful return to the light.
