It’s been a minute 👀😅

We have been busy in schools - just no time for socials 🤦🏾‍♀️

This year, 6 weeks rather than 10 has been a game changer!

✅ Engagement in classroom are at a all time ⬆️

✅ 80% of students showing for class

✅ Core messages being shared and resonating with students.

Their ability to learn about another part of the world, see the similarities and understand the concept of “WE CAN - TOGETHER”, has been awesome to watch!

Two more weeks left and so proud of our Year 9 students in 2026!

Our young people don’t always say, show or know what they want in the moment but one day they will remember leaders, sessions and workshops that will trigger their next thought and desire in life.

Thank you The University of Melbourne Seumanutafa and team for making these opportunities possible.

Now that we are well rested, yesterday was a strong reminder that our ‘Roots’ no matter which direction they grow, will always showcase where we are from, who we are and give us clear indication of which direction we are navigating.

Our ‘culture’, our ‘environments’ and those we have in our corner, circle or even above us, give us the foundations and guidance that we need to sore.

Yesterday, we saw over 70+ young men, their families and the Leadership of Melbourne Brothers Rugby Academy come to our humble country town in collaboration with Shepparton Rugby Union Club to receive education and experience culture, and build together through our differences as one.

Through our social media platform stories and those who were present that posted, you would have seen the evidence of a very successful day for all invovled - and as an organisation, our service to our visitors, showcased who we are to our roots - cultered and intentionally from and of the heart.

Thank you to Founding members of
Melbourne Brothers Academy for trusting us to deliver, may your journey in the work you do continue to grow and bless so many more - your passion and aroha is unmatched in the space of Rugby Union.

May the young men who are embarking on their journey be successful in all their endeavours and dont ever forget where you come as this will always direct and keep one grounded 💙🩵💙

🥰🥰‼️ HI

It’s been a minute or more 😅 YES we are still here silently working away and doing some behind the scenes work, building new avenues as we continue our work in the space of education, cultural intelligence, advocacy and arts.

An opportunity to host a Cultural Day in partnership with our local Shepparton Rugby Union Club for Melbourne Brothers Rugby Academy is super exciting for us!

Did you know that 94% of players and their families at Shepparton Rugby or Shepp Bulls are from Ethnic communities with a high percentage of that number from South Pacific islands? Well if you didn’t, now you know 😄

This event will see over 85 players ranging from ages of 12 up to 17 travel up with their families to experience culture right here on Yorta Yorta county.

We look forward to hosting them and thank the board of Melbourne Brothers Rugby Academy for trusting our organisations to host them this coming Saturday.

Watch this space family to see what else we are up to in 2025 and where you can participate or be part of our moves 🥰🙏🏽

And that’s a wrap!

For the past 4 years, it has been a privilege to deliver our Know Your Roots program at Greater Shepparton Secondary College as part of the Year 7 Humanitarian curriculum.

A Social Cohesion program that enables students to learn about cultures from around the world - Community Mentors of those cultures sharing who they are and allowing students to ask questions and receive answers from original peoples of those lands. A community led program that also assists with transition into living into country, Australia - home away from home.

A evidence-based program that has seen over 1800 students be engaged in every class session and in the courtyards seen a major shift in how they interact more cohesive with their peers. We have been fortunate enough to witness their growth and better understanding of others through our Year 9 program.

We have loved every second of delivering our program within the school setting at GSSC and thank all Teachers and Leadership for giving us the opportunity to do so.

We thank our Community Mentors for all their hardwork and dedication to students and especially to whole community.

🙏🏽

💛 9 years ago we birthed the KYR program as a solution to the needs of local young people from the Pasifika community who were feeling isolated, a disconnect from culture, society and education and as a means to assist Pasifika navigate their new home and ‘Country’ while still staying rooted to their culture and values.

✅ 9 years ago KYR was a lunch time program that moved to include after school program

✳️ 6 years ago the KYR program moved to taking what was being learnt by students - not only Pasifika but any student who wanted to learn - to a ‘stage’ of their making. They co-designed with the founders and partnering organisations and managed our successful Pasifika Festival Victoria! This grew every year with special guest performances from around the country to international headliners!

💛 4 years of being part of Greater Shepparton Secondary College Humanities Curriculum for Year 7 & an Elective for Year 9’s - what an amazing ride and opportunity we have had.

To date what was one KYR Program, is now delivering

🔆 KYR South Pacific

🔆 KYR Mediterranean

🔆 KYR First Nations

🔆 KYR Africa

🔆 KYR Identity and Belonging and Leadership programs and more.

Our evidence-based programs have been delivered in both Primary and Secondary educational settings and we are super excited at what the future has in store for us and most importantly, those we are able to work with - our young people, their families and their chosen schools.

Here’s us 3 years ago! Watch out for our next video from our young people who have been part of the program 💛

Have a great Term 3 everyone!!!
