🍪 COOKIES FOR CATHERINE 🍪

Each year on 24 September, the Feast Day of Venerable Catherine McAuley, Our Lady of Mercy, is celebrated by the Sisters of Mercy and the wider Mercy community around the world. 🤲

💕 On Friday 9 October, our canteen sold chocolate chip and M&M cookies to celebrate Catherine’s legacy with all profits donated to support Mercy Works – Sisters of Mercy, supporting their ongoing work with people experiencing disadvantage and vulnerability.

It looks like the students loved it, and the College is proud to support Mercy Works in their endeavours to create a more just and hopeful future across Australia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines and Timor-Leste! 🤝

HUME REGION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 🏃🏃‍♀️

NDC students competed at the Hume Region Athletics Carnival on 6th October in Albury. NDC finished 2nd overall in the Schools Aggregate Champions Award – a great effort against very strong opposition.

The following students finished in the top 5 of their Age Group Champions award:

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2026 🧠

World Mental Health Day is marked every year on 10 October as a reminder of the importance of mental health to our overall wellbeing. It is a day that encourages families, schools, workplaces and communities across the globe to start conversations, reduce stigma and highlight the support available for those who may be struggling.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone: children, teens, and adults alike. Recognising this helps us create more compassionate and supportive environments. 💚

Parents and caregivers play a central role in shaping the mental health of their children. 🫂

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the pressures young people face in today's world and how we can best support them. Whether it's helping children find balance between school, technology, and rest; encouraging open conversations about feelings; or modelling healthy coping strategies ourselves - small steps at home can make a big difference.

By engaging with resources and discussions on this day, families can strengthen their understanding of mental health and contribute to a culture where seeking help is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.

On Tuesday 6 October, our Year 12 VM Students organised a morning tea to celebrate the teachers and LSOs who supported them throughout the year. 🤝

🫶 It was a lovely farewell where the students and staff were able to catch up before the end of their school journey, enjoying a range of delicacies.

Yesterday morning, with grateful hearts, we bid farewell to our Year 12s at their final assembly 💙

With a musical performance from our choir, speeches from our College Captains, and a rendition of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" from band 'Dirty Denim', the assembly was a lovely way to mark the end of our graduating cohort's time at NDC. 🎸

🤝 We additionally thanked our 2026 Student Leaders and welcomed our 2027 Leaders as they step into their new leadership roles.

Year 12s, may the friendships you've made, the lessons you've learned, and the faith that has guided you at Notre Dame College stay with you wherever life leads. ✝

CAREERS NEWS 👩‍🏫

On behalf of the Careers Team, we would like to sincerely thank our students and families for their patience and support throughout Term 3. Our focus has been on ensuring every Year 12 student has a clear pathway beyond school, and we are pleased to say it has been an incredibly successful and rewarding term.

With our Year 12 pathway planning now largely complete, general careers appointments are now open for Year 10 and Year 11 students who would like to get a head start on planning their senior years and future pathways.

We have also opened a limited number of appointments for Year 9 students (Emmaus Campus), particularly for those who may have missed an appointment during Term 2 or early Term 3.

Today, our Year 12 students celebrated their Final Mass as Notre Dame College students in St Brendan’s Parish Church. ✨

It was a wonderful celebration as we begin to farewell our Year 12 students this week. 🤝👋

Students have spent the past six years regularly attending Parish Masses with their RE classes at St Brendan’s so it was not just a farewell from our school, but a farewell from our parish. ✝

After Mass, students shared a morning tea in the Parish Gardens with parishioners, staff and families. 🌞

We continue to pray for our Year 12 students in the coming months as they say goodbye to Notre Dame College and prepare for exams and life after school.👏

💚❤ Crane & Kennedy Fundraiser 💚❤

SHEPPARTON FOOD SHARE 🌭

The Food Share fundraiser was organised and worked on by the Crane and Kennedy House Captains. We chose Shepparton Food Share because we wanted to support people in our local community who may be experiencing food insecurity and help make a positive difference.✨

Over the course of two weeks, we held two BBQs where we sold sausages and drinks to raise money for Shepparton Food Share. 🌤️

Through the fundraiser, we were able to bring our school community together while raising money to support people and families in need, providing food and essential support to those experiencing food insecurity. 🙌🏿
