Avenel kindergarten provides an indoor – outdoor program that allows for extended periods of uninterrupted play and acknowledge the integral role of the natural environment. They have recently incorporated a Bush Kinder program and often have many incursions and excursions including visits to the community and Bush Kinder.

They also offer CCS for an after kinder program!

It may not seem like a lot for other services but a new shade sail at Undera Kindergarten contributes to a fresh look for their beautiful outdoor area.

GRPSA undertakes annual playground audits, and it was determined that the shade sail at Undera needed to be replaced due to age, mould and small holes.

Welcome to Ellie!

*** New School-Based Trainee – Ellie Nye ***
Congratulations to Ellie on commencing her School-Based Traineeship in Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care at Punt Road Kindergarten and Childcare Centre.

The service is a not-for-profit early childhood education service, part of GRPSA – Goulburn Region Preschool Association, which manages and supports 20 rural and regional preschools across the Goulburn Region - run for the community, by the community.

Ellie has always had a strong interest in working with children, and this opportunity allows her to turn that passion into real, hands-on experience while continuing her secondary schooling. She is aiming to complete Year 12 and go on to achieve her Diploma, with the goal of working as an educator in a kindergarten room.

As part of her traineeship, Ellie will be supported by a qualified trainer who will visit on-site every six weeks to guide her learning and assess her progress.

A fantastic step towards a rewarding career in early childhood education.

Great work, Ellie – we hope you have an amazing year ahead!

Sometimes all it takes is one person with an idea!

Jac Monk, our Kindergarten teacher at Katamatite Kindergarten had an idea to see if Mitch Tambo would come to our region to read his new book "I AM ME" and perform with our children. Mitch Tambo is Australia's world music star and acclaimed First Nations recording artist who has garnered 16 #1 iTunes on the Australian worldwide charts and multiple top 10 across various genre charts. He is an Aboriginal Australian singer, songwriter who self-released his debut album in 2016. In 2019, he reached the final of the ninth series of Australia's Got Talent and garnered national attention for his bilingual version of 'You're The Voice', in Gamilaraay and English.

Once we agreed to it, Jac asked if we can organise for all of our Moira Kinders (and Undera) to take part. How could we say no?

Approximately 167 kinder children and 30 staff attended the event this week. There was dancing, singing, reading and happy faces all around!

Thank you to Mitch Tambo, Katamatite Recreation Reserve, all the educators who organised the children for the day and of course to Jac Monk for her initiative and thoughtfulness.
