Celebrating 7 Years at Guthrie Street Childcare - Cass

Seven years ago, I started at Guthrie Street in the three-year-old preschool room /nursery. Looking back now, I feel incredibly grateful for everything my time here has brought me.

Working at Guthrie Street has given me the opportunity to build such meaningful relationships with the children, staff and families. Over the years, I have become part of the development. Watching the, learn, grow and discover the world around them has been one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

One of my favourite parts of this job has been watching the children change over time. Seeing the shy little ones find their confidence, hearing their first words, watching them make friendships, discover their interests and slowly grow into themselves is something I will always treasure. Over the years, I've also had the privilege of getting to know the families, celebrating their milestones, welcoming new siblings and watching their families grow and change. You become more than just a familiar face at drop-off and pick up; you become a small part of their journey, and that is something I feel very lucky to have experienced. There have been so many beautiful moments over these seven years - the cuddles, the laughter, the funny little conversations, the achievements and even the challenging days that have taught me something new.

Childcare can be exhausting, but it is also incredibly rewarding. There is something so special about knowing that, even in a small way, you have helped shape a child's early years and helped them feel safe, loved, supported and confident.

After seven years, I can honestly say that I still love what I do. I love the children, I love the families, and I love being able to watch them grow into the people they are becoming. I feel very lucky to have chosen a career where no two days are the same, where there is always something new to learn, and where the little moments often become the memories you remember most.

Seven years has given me so many memories, so many meaningful relationships and so many reasons to be proud of the work I do. I'm incredibly grateful for my time at Guthrie Street, and I'm excited to see what the next chapter brings.

Celebrating 7 Years at Guthrie Street Childcare

Seven years of little hands to hold, tiny voices to listen to, big emotions to comfort, and countless precious moments to treasure.

My journey in Early Childhood Education has been so much more than a career. It has been seven beautiful years of watching children grow, celebrating their little achievements, supporting them through challenges, and creating memories that will stay in my heart forever.

I feel incredibly grateful for every child and family who has allowed me to be part of their journey, and for the wonderful educators I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. Each child has taught me something, helped me grow, and reminded me why I chose this beautiful profession.

Seven years later, I’m still so grateful to come to work each day and have the privilege of helping shape little hearts and minds.

Last week was Pyjama Week at Guthrie Street. 🌙

The children arrived in their cosiest pyjamas, ready for a week of relaxed play, posing for photos with their friends and educators, and plenty of laughter along the way.

Thank you to our families and educators for getting involved. The children loved every minute of it.

Our little artists had a wonderful time exploring paint today! Through painting, the babies enjoyed using their hands and brushes to make colourful creations while developing their fine motor skills, sensory awareness, and creativity.

It was a fun, messy, and engaging experience filled with smiles, curiosity, and lots of learning. We are so proud of our little learners and the beautiful artwork they created!

Smiles for Miles visited our 4-Year-Old Kinder children at Guthrie St, sharing an interactive session all about healthy eating, food choices, and keeping those smiles bright.

Through hands-on activities and conversation, the children discovered how eating a variety of colourful foods supports their growing bodies and their overall wellbeing. It's the kind of learning that sticks, because it's fun, visual, and genuinely meaningful to them.

Connect to the Earth. 🌏

Guthrie Street is proud to welcome Wayapa Wuurrk to our 3 and 4-Year-Old Kinder program, joining us for a series of incursions that bring something truly special to our children.

Wayapa Wuurrk means "Connect to the Earth." Through storytelling, mindful movement, music, and cultural learning, children are invited to slow down, tune in, and build a deep sense of connection to nature, to each other, and to Country.

It's wellbeing, sustainability, and Indigenous cultural learning woven together in a way that young children can genuinely feel.

There is nothing quite like the joy of tiny feet on paper. Our Nursery children have been exploring sensory play this week. They have been having their little feet painted and stamped to create the most beautiful winter artwork. Our educators loved every giggle-filled moment just as much as the children did.

Big things are happening at Guthrie Street! The children have been absolutely loving exploring our brand new play spaces, from climbing and balancing to imaginative adventures on the high seas. Watching them move, discover and thrive out here every day is exactly why we do what we do.
