At KR we have do a lot of work around PHONEMIC AWARENESS! Phonemic awareness is a foundational skill in early literacy, involving the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words.

This is the pathway to enable students to do PHONICS and be able to connect the sounds to letters to spell the words!

🌟We have DIFFERENTIATED lessons to support students who are at the phonics level and provide phonics instruction. This clever cookie can hear, identify, sound out and manipulate sounds to SPELL WORDS! 🌟

Some of our SUPERHEROES! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️✨

Last week we had a dress up week to break up the routine! This is preparing our students for change in their normal routines. Sprinkling in some dress up fun adds excitement and prepares them for the adventures of BIG SCHOOL! we are nurturing our students to become adaptable and versatile learners! ✨

We have been busy with the LETTER P this week at KR!

🍿We got to pop some popcorn and used our senses and adjectives to describe it!
🍿We became pirates searching for our treasure chests that had GOLDEN numbers in it. Students got to subitise numbers and match the correct gold coins to the number. 🏴‍☠️
🍿We did Pom Pom painting using pegs. This works on our fine motor skills, hand eye coordination skills and identifying/building the letter P.
🍿Peg numbers: we practiced our counting of objects and identifying the number to the amount by clipping pegs. This works on both our fine motor skills and numeracy skills all in one.
🍿Practiced our names and built them with letters
🍿Practiced our number identification, subitising the dice and writing numbers.

We looked at the story: pig the grub!
Discussed who our characters are, setting, problem and resolution. This enables students retell events that happened in the story and what the message/purpose of the story is. As every story always teaches us something! 📚💭

All activities chosen has students working on more than on skill at a time! They are so ready for KINDERGARTEN ✨

Last week at KR our amazing little kiddies made orange juice!

To be successful our kiddies had to:
🍊follow instructions
🍊read and understand a procedure
🍊discuss hygiene
🍊use our fine motor skills
🍊worked on our literacy skills
🍊worked on our maths skills discussing halves
🍊use our muscles to make us strong
🍊team building
