Meet our Excellence in Environmental Program finalist. 🌿

Little Zak’s Academy Hunters Hill has been named an EECE Award finalist for Excellence in Environmental Program.

At Little Zak’s Hunters Hill, learning is grounded in nature, children explore and learn using natural materials, discovering the world around them through hands-on, open-ended play. This nomination reflects the genuine care and curiosity our educators bring to that experience every day.

🌱 LZ Enviro At Little Zak’s Academy, caring for the environment isn’t a once-off activity, it’s part of everyday life across the whole centre.

Our children get involved in real, hands-on experiences: 🌿 Growing vegetables 💧 Watering plants 🍅 Harvesting fruit and veg ♻️ Composting 🗑️ Recycling and rubbish segregation.

Through this, children build: A genuine care for the environment, starting with something as simple as growing a plant.

A sense of responsibility, learning what it takes to properly care for something living Real empathy, understanding the effort behind where their food actually comes from.

A sneak peek into a coastal incursion with our 3–4 year olds with Alice from Northern Beaches Council. 🌊

It’s part of how we approach early education at Little Zak’s Academy with hands-on, real-world experiences that build genuine understanding. The children explored local sea creatures, learned about rock pool safety, and started building an understanding of sustainability and why our coastlines matter.

We partner with council and community experts like Alice throughout the year because we believe the best early education looks beyond the centre gates. It’s one of the ways we’re setting the standard for what a premium early education looks like across out.

We’re proud to share that we’ve been named a finalist for Excellence in Food, Nutrition and Menu Design at the 2026 EECE Awards. 🍽️

For us, this has never just been about ticking a nutrition box. It’s about the care that goes into every meal, and the small moments of connection that happen around the table each day. Watching children try new foods, ask for seconds, or sit down together with their friends is something our kitchen team takes real pride in.

Thank you to our wonderful chefs and educators for making mealtimes something children genuinely look forward to. This recognition means a lot to us, and to the families we’re lucky to spend each day with. 💛

We believe children feel safest when their voice is heard. That means teaching them their rights, giving them the confidence to speak up, and creating real, age-appropriate ways for them to raise any concerns.

Families are part of this too. We’re open about our safety measures, we welcome feedback, and every year we review our policies to make sure they’re genuinely working. 🩵
