A big thank you to all the wonderful families who have been visiting our playgroups this year! 💛 Your participation has made these sessions so special, and we’ve loved getting to know you and your children.

And a special thank you to Mrs. McCloud for all the creative setups and hard work she has put into playgroup this year. Your creativity has made such a difference in helping children feel comfortable and engaged!

As we look ahead, after this week our playgroups will be exclusively for children enrolled in our 2025 Kindergarten Program, as part of our Transition to Kindy initiative. 🎨✨ These sessions will help children feel more familiar and comfortable with their kindy environment, ensuring a smooth transition.

If your child is enrolled for 2025, we’d love to see them in these fun and engaging sessions! 🎉

I love when I walk into a classroom just in time to see creativity unfolding! This group of children has been exploring Australian animals. After reading Animals Around the Billabong and Wombat Stew, the children were invited to create representational drawings of animals.

We absolutely love this simple yet powerful calming strategy to help ground children (and adults!) during times of big emotions. It’s a great way to refocus by using the senses to bring attention back to the present moment.

👂 3 things you can hear
👃 2 things you can smell
👅 1 thing you can taste

This easy-to-follow exercise is perfect for calming down and finding peace, no matter where you are.

🌿 October is Mental Health Month 🌿

As we take this month to focus on mental health and wellbeing, it's important to remember that even young children need tools to manage their emotions.

At kindy, the children love using our bubble timers to help them calm down and refocus when they’re feeling a bit overwhelmed. It’s a simple and effective way for them to manage their emotions – and the great news is, this can be easily replicated at home by making your own Calm Down Jars! ✨

These jars can be a wonderful tool for your child to practice mindfulness and find their calm during those big emotions.

🌍💚 Today is World Mental Health Day! 💚🌍

On this important day, we’re reminded to care for our mental well-being and the well-being of our children. Mental health matters at every age, and finding simple ways to co-regulate and support each other is key. One great tool parents can use with their children is Mountain Breathing! 🏔️

Mountain Breathing is a calming technique where you trace the shape of mountain peaks with your finger—breathing in as you trace up, and breathing out as you trace down. It’s a fantastic way to co-regulate with your child, helping both of you slow down, focus on your breath, and find calm together. 🌬️

By modelling Mountain Breathing when needed, you show children how to manage their emotions and stress in a healthy, mindful way. Let’s take time today to focus on our mental well-being and support each other! 💛

🌟 Rainy Days at Kindy 🌟

Even though the rain kept us indoors, we had a wonderful time filled with creativity and learning. Here's a few things we got up to:

🦖 Dinosaur Mud Pit – Our dinosaur world came to life inside! The children enjoyed imaginative play with dinosaurs in a muddy sensory pit, exploring textures and storytelling while working on their fine motor skills.

🌟 Shadow Puppets – We turned off the lights and let our imaginations shine! Using shadow puppets, the children created stories and learned about light and shadows, boosting their language and creative thinking skills.

🏰 Building Castles with Blocks – the architects were hard at work constructing castles with wooden blocks, this activity encouraged problem-solving, spatial awareness, and creativity, while also developing their fine motor skills and focus.

🌾 Sensory Play – Rain didn’t stop our sensory fun! The children poured, scooped, and transferred colorful rice, and explored space with black "moon rocks", improving hand-eye coordination and concentration through this calming and engaging activity.

🏰 Lego Building – Our engineers constructed impressive Lego towers and castles, using their problem-solving and spatial skills. Lego play also helps foster teamwork and collaboration.

Rainy days indoors are full of opportunities for learning and exploration. We love seeing the children grow through these exciting activities! 💡🌈

We are back! Playgroup resumes today at 9:30 a.m. and will run this term until Wednesday, 6th November. After that, Playgroup will be available only for children enrolled in our Kindergarten program for 2025, to support their transition to Kindergarten. We look forward to welcoming you all for our final term of the year.
