Week 9 is here, and weโ€™re officially in the final stretch of Term 3! With just two weeks to go, thereโ€™s plenty happening across Shailer Park State High School as our students continue to learn, achieve and make the most of every opportunity.

For our Year 12 students, the countdown is on, with Mock Exams commencing this week. This is an important time to stay focused, keep up the study, and make the most of the support available as they prepare for their final assessments.

Across the school, our students continue to be involved in learning, activities and opportunities that encourage them to challenge themselves, build confidence and strive for their personal best.

On Friday last week, the Year 9 Japanese class brought a Japanese school-inspired cultural market stall event (ๆ–‡ๅŒ–็ฅญ- bunkasai) to life on campus in which multiple classes were invited to attend.

As part of their assessment this term, these students designed, advertised, and operated their very own stalls which featured games, food & crafts. These stalls ranged from calligraphy practice, to anime-inspired ichiban kuji, to Beyblade tournaments, to making their own onigiri (and much more!)

This project challenged the Year 9 students to apply their language skills in greeting and thanking their customers in Japanese, expanding their cultural understanding, and emphasising team-work in a real world context.

Watching the Year 9 class share Japanese culture with the rest of the school community was lovely to see. Both of their teachers (ๅ…ˆ็”Ÿ โ€“ sensei) are proud of their hard work!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Academic School Captain, ๐Š๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐–๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐š๐ง, who has been offered a place in the Queensland College of Danceโ€™s full-time Commercial Program for 2027 โ€“ 2028.

This exciting achievement follows a highly competitive, multi-stage audition process. Over the next two years, Kate will complete a Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Professional Dance, while developing the technical and performance skills needed to pursue a professional career in the dance industry. This opportunity is a wonderful reflection of Kateโ€™s exceptional talent, dedication and commitment to pursuing her passion. We congratulate Kate on this well-deserved achievement and cannot wait to see where the next chapter of her dance journey takes her!
