Train Australians Before Importing More Migrant Workers

Australia's skills shortage won't be solved by relying solely on skilled migration.

In his latest opinion piece, Master Plumbers Association NSW CEO Nathaniel Smith argues that while migration has an important role, the real long-term solution is investing in Australian apprentices and supporting the businesses that train them.

Every apprentice we train today strengthens our workforce for decades to come.

It's time to stop importing yesterday's solution and start investing in tomorrow's workforce.

Our Master Plumber apprentices recently completed the practical component of their studies, focusing on fusion welding of plastic pipes a critical hands-on skill for the industry.

A big thank you to Peter Nolan from Kenkar Plastics in Seven Hills for generously lending us the specialised welding equipment needed to make this training possible. Your support helps us continue delivering high-quality, real-world learning experiences for our apprentices.
