🌿🌿HARVESTING NETTLE🌿🌿

Yesterday I went out to a local Organic Farm to gather a huge bagful of Nettle.🌿🌿

There was a massive area of land covered in the Nettle. My purpose for harvesting it was to add to a batch of my Vegan Soap.🌿🌿

From what I have read about using Nettle in Soap, it's a light skin cleanser, less intense than Charcoal powder, drawing out toxins from the skin. Nettle is anti inflammatory and has other skin benefits with all the Vitamins and Minerals it contains 🌿🌿

I got home and boiled up a big saucepan of water and added half my Nettle, stems, leaves and buds. I left it to boil for a while, then turned off the heat and left it to cool overnight.🌿🌿

This morning I strained out the wilted Nettle (will be great in my Compost) and have ended up with nearly 3 litres of dark green Nettle Tea!!🌿🌿

The rest of my Nettle collection I have hung from the beams over my woodfire to dry, so I have some to use another time!! Now just about to make a big batch of Nettle Soap.....stay tuned!!🌿🌿🙏🙏

🌿SECONDS SOAP🌿

I have sorted out three bags of Seconds Soap. Each weighing just over a kg. I will sell them for $40 a bag. There is the equivalent of 10 bars of Soap. 🙏

They are all imperfect in some way.....Some of the bags have faded Spirulina Soap, and there are the offcuts from the top of the Soap when it comes out of the mould, so a lumpy shape. There is one bar in one of the bags that is a little crumbly. All of the Soap is usable. Just some are not very pretty!! Some are the very bottom bar which has the indent from the bottom of the milk carton used as a mould. A couple of bars were an experiment using a little Sunflower Oil in the mix. But most of the Soaps are made using Organic Coconut and Olive Oils.Some may have dents where they might have been dropped. And some of the Soaps are just a bit small to be sold at full price!😀

First in will get this bargain. Pick up is in Selby in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. Or I can post at your cost 💚🌿🙏😀

Good Morning.....

Here in Victoria its deep winter, and snow has fallen on the Mountains an hour away from where I live. Its also very windy today, so not even fun for me to go out for a walk, even though the sun is out. As I get older I find the cold weather impacts my aches and pains!! Hope you are warm where you are. I have my woodfire going 24/7 this time of year. 🔥🔥

So its a good day to make some more Soap!! When I make Soap it stays in the moulds for one or two weeks and then when I cut the Soap or pop it out of the silicon moulds, it has to sit somewhere dry and airy for up to a month or more. This allows excess water to evapourate and allows the Soap to Cure. This means it hardens and also means your Soaps will last longer.🙏🙏

So when you buy my Soap it has been laid out on towel covered boards and put up high on shelves in my Laundry. As I make more Soap and get to the cutting stage, all my Soaps are moved down a shelf. The boards on the lower shelves are ready to use and the higher up ones need to sit for a month or more before I can package or sell them.🌿🌿

Sometimes I have Seconds Soap. This is Soap that I cut a bit wonky, or are a bit too small, or the colour may have faded, or maybe even I put a little too much Salt in the mix and its made the Soap crumbly. That does not happen as much anymore. Plus I often will weigh out half bars of Soap and turn them into Soap Stacks.💚💚

Have you been wanting to learn to make your own Natural Soaps? I have been making my own Cold Processed Soap for over 25 years. I wanted pure, unfragranced Soap when my kids were little and never knew then how it would become a fun easy activity for so long!
