I was already tutoring for almost 15 years when I met some amazing homeschooling families. Inspired by them, I have decided to adopt the homeschooling style of teaching and learning in my lessons. The kids love it when we go outside and practise spelling words using chalks on the drive way or investigating hands-on maths instead of just doing exercises with boring school books! r for them to learn when they are having fun and understand the relationship between schooling and real life. And we always have time for a giggle too (or feeding Ollie the parrot, who seems to be everyone's favourite :o)
I've got heaps of experience with special needs kids, with a special interest in children with ADHD and Dyslexia. It is amazing how dedicated and passionate these kids are once you get to know their strengths (and everyone has them), something some sadly don't bother with anymore at school. I have met kids in the past that were labeled "wiggly", "unfocused" or "lazy" by their teachers but who have progressed in their learning and development so quickly, leaving their parents in disbelief. I truly believe doing things differently from other tutors makes me stand-out from the rest. Happy to provide references to prove it. ;o)
I am offering 1 hour homeschooling support in the mornings and 45 minutes tutoring in the afternoons (in general, kids can't focus much longer after a long day at school), with special offers during school holidays. The Minion Maths & Literacy Club (small groups tutoring) will start term 1 2017. I can also asses your child or give you a second opinion and point you in the right direction if you need additional resources. All age groups are welcome, I can teach PP to year 12 in Maths, English and LOTE (German and French). Ed Department Screening, Working with Children Check, Police Clearance and Senior First Aid available. We are also Safety House. :o)
