is Shinto dedication, Daihachi Oguchi brought traditional Japanese instruments together to create a new dynamic form of ensemble drumming performance to Japan & then the globe. "Taiko" in Japanese means "Drum", but is now a common term used to describe this contemporary performance art born from a fusion of cultures, concepts & ideas. Taiko is a highly choreographed, energetic & dynamic style of ensemble drumming performance. Taiko Do's performances are a communication of ki energy between each of the performers ... the performers and their instruments ... between the performers and their audience. Taiko Do's classes encompass Taiko drumming techniques in various Taiko styles, culture & history, traditional & contemporary Taiko music pieces, physical fitness. We also offer the opportunity to perform publicly for those interested in taking their Taiko journey to the next level in our student based Community Performance Group or our Taiko Do Performance Team. Taiko Do embraces the core principles of Energy, Form & Spirit. We promote Cultural Diversity, Unity, Inclusion, Self Expression & Sharing our energy, passion & music to bring people together. Taiko Do works to promote and expand the Art of Taiko music making in Western Australia & to help grow a community connected through the Journey of Learning & Performing the Art of Taiko.

Taiko performances are essentially a communication of ki energy between each of the performers ... the performers and their instruments ... between the performers and their audience. At Taiko Do W.A. training will encompass Taiko drumming technique, physical fitness, traditional & contemporary Taiko pieces as well as performance opportunities. Our mission at Taiko Do is to promote and expand the art of Taiko ensemble drumming in Western Australia and to help grow a community connected through the journey of Taiko.
