So happy with this!

Thanks to Climbing The Learning Mountain for giving us a shot at solving your problem. They needed a new box with divisions to store their stamps which they use all the time with their clients. We were able to create a new box, including the lid and also some new letters to replace the missing ones. A really interesting job to do with 3D Printing. The elements of maths mentioned in this article (counting, place value, addition and subtraction of small numbers) are where the bulk of my maths students need help.

Hopefully overhauling the early years of the curriculum can mean fewer Grade 5/6 students needing to be tutored in the foundations!

Nearly half of 15-year-olds aren’t proficient in maths. We can only correct that by rescuing them when they’re much younger.

I couldn't agree more- hope is not a strategy.

As the news cycle moves on from its annual NAPLAN frenzy, school systems, teachers, and most particularly parents are left wondering “What happens next?” for students in the lowest band of NAPLAN, which now has the transparent descriptor “needs additional support”.

Sometimes you just have to put the lesson plan aside and build with the blocks. The irony is that my 'tired' student ended up doing far more difficult maths than I'd planned! Multiplication, addition and place value revision, all wrapped up in 'I wonder how many individual squares our tower uses?'
